I am picking out ink colors for my demo kit (What fun!). I have 10 of the bold brights so I will get the 2 I don't have to complete the set. I have a few of all the other colors but not many. What colors should I get to complete my demo kit? Should I be looking at Soft Subtles colors because summer is coming or should I choose some other ones? What colors do you tend to use the most (besides bold brights)? TIA for your hlep!
Pick some greens - always needed - Old Olive, Mellow Moss, Garden Green. Burgundy always combines well with black for a classy card.
Have fun picking!!!
I probably won't be much help because, like you, I use mostly Bold Brights. I would make sure you have a good brown. I was complaining the entire time I was doing a project today because I don't have Chocolate Chip. I use Rich Regals quite a bit, I really like all the blues in that group. I don't use many of the Soft Subtles, but I really like my Mellow Moss, Sage Shadow, Pretty in Pink, and Bliss Blue. Lavender Lace is another one I really like. Hope this helps and have fun choosing!
I would definitely get Old Olive - I use it more than almost every other color - think flower stems and leaves!!! Personally, I tend to reach for the Soft Subtles over the Bold Brights - specifically Mellow Moss, the two Plums, and Bliss Blue. Oh yeah, and Almost Amethyst. Guess I'm not much help!!!!
I would agree with the old olive. Couldn't live without it. Also, I would get colors that go with your BB's, across the color wheel. That way aren't sitting there all lonely...
I love orchid o. w/ m. magenta and lav. lace,
or
Ballet blue w/ gable and green galore
or T. turq with taken with teal
get my drift? I often look at the bottom of inspiration sheets for different color combo's than I can think of.
If your plan is to eventually end up with all 48 pads, I'd suggest keeping your kit colors all in one family if you can. Are the "odd" pads you have from the same family? Then I'd choose the ones in your kit from that family as well. Why? Because it will make it possible for you to complete your set less expensively later. You'll be able to buy two families as sets of 12, and only have one to complete piecemeal.
Thanks so much for all the great idea! I was looking at my pad colors and out of the 3 remaining color families, I have 1 rich regal pad, 5 earth elements pads, and 3 soft subtle pads. So I will probably pick 3 earth elements for my remaining choices to get closer to completing that family. Thanks to all who posted!
I agree with everyone who said Old Olive... it is my MOST favorite... along with the two plums and the pinks. Close to Cocoa is another of my favorites... but Old Olive for sure!!!
The colors I use the most out of each category are:
greens=green galore and mellow moss
blues=ballet and bliss
pinks=pretty in pink and rose romance
yellows=yoyo and banana
reds=none of SU (I prefer Adirondack cranberry)
brown= close to cocoa
purples=lavendar lace
black=Graphite in Brilliance
I also use Colorbox Chalks extensively and Dark Peony is my favorite.
