I just uploaded a card to my gallery. It's called upstairs. Hopefully it is visible. It desperately needs some advice. What is it missing? I can't figure it out. Any ideas?
Try some skirting brackets in white. Google "skirting brackets" for examples.
Also, perhaps a small ribbon bow on the cat's neck - the tiny bows you tie around a fork. Perhaps a flower pot with color flowers on the upstairs landing.
Cute card. The window seems a little bit too high and to the right though.
Maybe if you moved it down and to the left a little bit "sorta centered the window in the "white" space" you wouldn't feel like it was missing something.

Maybe the wall is a little plain/dark. Are the banisters/railings stuck down? Could you stamp a small design, masking the railings or add some little clusters of white dots with a pen to break it up? Try it on a scrap piece of the same paper and place it over to see how it looks.

I think it is a visual thing that a window IRL wouldn't be higher than a pendant light on a stairway. Line the top of the frame up with the bottom of the light shade and it will be more natural to the eye.
And a ribbon or collar on the cat would be cute too.
My eyes moved around a lot and couldn't rest on a certain spot so I wasn't sure what you wanted to be the focal point. Think of your card as being nine equal blocks (three rows of three blocks) and have your focal point be at the intersection of where four blocks meet. Like others said maybe moving the window down and to the left a little and adding patterned curtains to the window for more focus. Also maybe making it 4" x 5.25" and layering it on top of a coordinating colored card base (gray to match the cat or blue to match the bird?) that would frame the whole scene. I like the idea of adding a bow or collar to the cat since I'm partial to cats. I'm not sure about the dark wall...I can't see the cat easily.
I really like the stamped wood plank or wood grain on the staircase!

It seems top and bottom heavy. Bringing the window down lower on the wall and adding a pop of color either to the kitty with a bow or adding another element like greenery, a vase etc. would be something to try. But it's sure cute!
Wow! Thank you so much everyone! These suggestions are great! I will not only fix the card I made but I'm going to make some new ones with all the fantastic ideas. You are all so supportive and creative.
