My son & DIL ordered seedlings from a nursery (I think the cheapest site was a place in Canada - don't recall the name) but they had a seedling for each guest to which I attached a tag w/ribbon and the following poem: “Blessed are the man and the woman who have grown
beyond themselves and have seen through their separations.
They delight in the way things are and keep their hearts open,
day and night. They are like trees planted near flowing rivers,
which bear fruit when they are ready. Their leaves will not fall
or wither. Everything they do will succeed.”
Below this poem, I had their first names and wedding date.
I stamped some green leaves around the edge of the tag and layered it on apple green CS (their wedding color). In this present day of 'keeping everything green', it would be a great way to plant a tree and remember the bride and groom as you watch it gow.

I made favors for the rehearsal dinner guests prior to our son's wedding using custom M&M's in mesh bags. Here is a link to the upload in my gallery for more details: FAVOR

I did favors for a bridal shower and we did chocolate covered pretzels in stamped sour cream containers and a stamped tag. For a wedding, you could print a tag with the couples name and either punch it out or use nesties. They are so easy, can be made ahead of time, are really inexpensive, and people love them. Besides what is more romantic than chocolate?!
Something with kisses inside is always appropriate.
A friend of ours got married November 2007 and they had pine cone ornaments with their details on which was nice to remember them by when we decorated the tree this year.
A cousin and his wife loved choxie so did boxes of choxies on the tables.
Another cousin has sunflowers as a them and did sunflower shaped cookies as her favours. She had other crafty elements throughout her wedding.
At one point I saw where someone used a large scallop punch to create a "holder". Inside were 4 (i think) hershey nuggets with stamped labels or decorative paper wrapped around them. The sides of the scallop wrapped around the top and it was tied with a ribbon.
I always thought this would be cute for a wedding favor as you could use the wedding colors on the "scallop wrap" and put a personal touch on the labels and/or tag.
This is not a favor, per se, but what we did at my daughter's wedding instead of favors was had a "candy shoppe". We got cellophane bags and put a sticker on it with their names and dates and then we had a candy table, and people would fill their own bags with candy. It was beautiful. Not real costly either. We bought all the candy in bulk. Her wedding was pink and white so the candy was either pink or white. If anyone wants a picture, I could probably post one.

I love the ones that PTI did. Especially the one with the pear candle and their stamp "perfect pear". I have done cd's before. I purchased the cd tins and we put about 12 different "love" songs that we enjoyed. Then using a cd label program we labeled the cd. At the time we did Seattle cause that is where we were. We added a note inside that included the songs and a thank you to everyone for coming. They were tied with a ribbon from the wedding colors.
Might want to check out Creative Cuts and More website... http://www.creativecutsandmore.com/
They have some cute dye cuts for weddings. Wedding cake slices which might work out nice. I know that they are coming out with a wedding dress box and tux box soon. Might be easier to have dye cuts made than having to do all the work you're self. Speaking from experience here.
Just my thoughts here.

Great idea...I would LOVE to see a picture as it sounds cute for a baby shower

Now if I could only find where I saw it!!!
I found the link for the one I described in an earlier post and it was Papertrey
That is a really cool idea. How did you estimate the quantity of candy you needed? I would be worried about having a ton leftover or running out.
I can't remember how but we bought it online by the pound and I think there was a wedding website that told how much we needed for xx number of people. We did good because we didn't really have alot left over. And the stuff we did have left over we just put it out at birthday parties, etc., until it was gone. The picture doesn't do it justice, it really was beautiful.

Great minds think alike, Jenny! I was going to suggest CC&M, too. They have a gallery just for favors, and photos of a couple of those wedding cake slices all "dressed up".
I have purchased several templates from an online store called Papershapez. I happen to have a Wishblade so I buy the .gsd files but most of her items also come in .pdf...which of course would have to be handcut. There are several cute "favor" ideas though!
For my wedding we made gingerbread cookies in the shape of a wedding cake with royal icing glaze. Then they went into a cello bag and I decorated with a stamped tag tied with two colours of ribbon that said "thank you for sharing in our day".
I highly recommend something to eat....I know personally I don't like to receive "trinkets".
For my daughter's wedding I sewed a little 'tube' and put a small amouint of bird seed in it. Then I turned the some of the fabric inside, twisted the bottom and attached a stem to it to turn it into a beautiful rose. I then attached a ribbon & tag to it with the name of the bride & groom and wedding date.
My son is getting married on January 17 and we've been going crazy making table favors and centerpieces. I keep adding more and more things. First, the tables are round with white tableclothes and dark blue napkins (we're doing a red, white and blue wedding since he is a Marine). On the napkins, we will place hearts cut from Nestabilities in white with a smaller red heart on top (which I ran through the Tapestry Cuttlebug folder) and then a scalloped circle with their initials monogrammed on top. On the back is a message which reads "Thank you for sharing our special day with us", their names and the date. I took this idea from the Just Rite Stampers site because I used the monogram set they sell. Also, this idea was shown in black and white on their site. I bought small square tins with "Love" on the top from Michaels and filled them with red, white and blue M&Ms to be placed at each place setting. The center of the tables will have a 6" Pillar Candle in a hurricane glass sitting on a mirrored tile with a clover candle ring, which we bought at Michaels (it's with their St. Patrick's Day items). In each ring, we put 5 red roses and 5 white roses. We will have three of these on the head table and will have vases for the girl's to place their flowers. We will sprinkle red silk rose petals around them and toss a few red, white and blue candy kisses. We are now in the process of making wine glass charms for each person in the bridal party and for the parents. These are in red, blue and clear crystals. Lot's of work, but fun and well worth it. My son has been to Iraq twice and has had a pretty hard time with brain trauma injury and PTSD. (I also made their invitations for the wedding and the shower invitations). Hand made items will never be forgotten! Good luck and enjoy!
Janet

If you want something economical we did this for my daughter's wedding last spring. In the wedding section of the $ store they have fold up boxes with rounded handles of l0 in a pkg. They are nothing special that's for sure, but I ran each through the cuttlebug with (you have to do it once each way as they are too big to accomplish with one crank) it makes a bit of a line on it but we wrapped white/silver ribbon around and used the cuttlebug die that a ribbon slides through around it. Stamped Mr. & Mrs. in silver on that. We used tulle in the box & added silver kisses in it. It was Super Cute! We had lots of nice comments & didn't break the bank. Hope you understand this rambling sorry I don't have a picture. I can't remember the name of the cuttlebug folder I used it was the one that sort of looks like vintage wallpaper.
I want to make some wedding favors for my son's summer wedding. Does anyone have any ideas? TIA
MP
My son was married a year ago in July here is the idea we used. We took plastic spoons and put candy kisses and hugs on the spoon then we wrapped the spoon with tulling. We attached a ribbon to match their wedding colors and then stamped on cardstock "Hugs and Kisses from the Mr. & Mrs" I hope this helps.
Our daughter wanted wands with bells for her wedding so I cut dowels into 3 pieces and painted them white. I printed thier names and date onto WW CS, used the small tag punch to cut them out and adhered this to a silver large punch tag which "kissin' & tellin' " was stamped onto the back. Add regular white and silver curley ribbon to this and with bells that were strung onto a peice of wire I attached it all to the end using white floral tape. When they were announced at the reception, everyone was able to 'ring' them in. It was really easy to do while watching tv at night.
For my nephew's wedding I made the packet of matches with their name and date on the front and a thank you on the back inside I placed 2 Andes mints. They were placed on the cake table and even though I made more than what the bride requested every single one of them were gone. I don't think they had any left to put in their scrapbook.

my niece did this for her wedding. She got married the end of September and had an autumn themed wedding. She used candy corn, Fall colored M&Ms, and some wrapped candy, all in separate huge glass jars. At each table setting there was a simple white box with a fall leaf glued to it. You could to fill it up yourself. The only problem was that the little kids took way more than their share, so that a lot of the candy was gone by the time the adults got there. But what a beautiful idea!
Try something everyone can use like post it notes and small pens/pencils. Put part of a post it note pad in a cs wrap (cheaper if using part of a pad) and decorate the front with their names/date. The flap can be plain or decorated and held closed with ribbon, matchbook style closure or tucked under cs cut with the slit punch.

I used a nugget box and wrapped the nuggets in white stamped one with "thank you", one with a daisy (the bride carried Gerberas), and made the bride and groom sign 200 of them before I wrapped the nugget. Everyone went nuts over them. I was very proud of them and it really did not take that much time. Once you cut everything out you can do bits and pieces just about everywhere. I even scored at all the stop lights while commuting back and forth to work. Using my score-it. On the top of the box I used the scallop circle in black and a regular circle in white and stamped a "J" on them (first letter of my nieces new last name).
How this makes sense,
Pam

What a CUTE idea. This would be great for an anniversary favor also. I was just on another thread about celebrating a 50th and you could use the gold wrapped ones - NEAT!
For my daughter's fall wedding, we made tiny jars of Dutch Apple Pie jam, and stamped labels for them with their names and wedding date. For a summer wedding, strawberry or rhubarb jam would be more in season.
Hope you have a wonderful day!
Here is the wedding favor that my DH and I used for our wedding almost two years ago. Our theme was hearts so I used a metal heart cookie cutter (something people would use again) attached a tag that says "Thank you" on the inside with ribbon. Then on the outside attached a poem on the same cardstock our invitations had on them.
Hope this helps.
