I've had a few people PM me and ask how I watermark in Publisher. So I shall give explaining it a shot here!! Bear with me....;)
Open Publisher. (good place to start, eh?)
Click on NEW or BLANK PUBLICATION to get past all the templates that are there when it opens.
Click on "INSERT WORD ART". (It's the weird looking blue 'A' on the left side toolbar)
This will pop up a WORD ART GALLERY with a bunch of different styles of word art. Click on the one you like.
This will pop up a box where you can type whatever you want to be on your watermark (text only). To get the symbol you hold down the ALT button while typing 0 1 6 9 on the numbers keypad to the right of your regular keypad. (won't work with the #'s up on top--HAS to be the the one to the side)
Pick your font type and size and whether you want it bold or italicized. This will show up on your Publisher page. A new toolbar will appear as well. (It will say WORD ART)
With this you can change the SHAPE of your word art, the SPACING of your word art, the ALIGNMENT, etc. This is the part that you play around with until you have your text the way you want it.
If you hit FORMAT the word art, this is where you can change the color/transparency of your word art. Play around with it.
Hit SAVE AS. Save this as a PUB file. (It works, trust me!!!!)
Now scan/upload your card, scrapbook page, whatever into the photo cropping software you use. Edit it as you want. Save it as a JPEG file somewhere easy to find. (I usually save mine in MY DOCUMENTS. It works, trust me!!)
Now back in Publisher open up a NEW document and then (Since you're finished editing your pic) look up at the top toolbar. Hit INSERT. Look in the place you saved it to. (MY DOCUMENTS for me.)
Look for your card/sb page/whatever and click on it. Now your picture is on your new page. If your card is a horizontal card, then go to FILE and hit PAGE SETUP. Where it says PAGE ORIENTATION hit LANDSCAPE. This will put your page on it's side so now your card fits nicely.
Go back to your watermark page and copy it. (CTRL + C) Go to the new page with your card on it and hit paste. (CTRL + V) Now your watermark is on your card.
If you click on your watermark you can move it or make it bigger. Now click SAVE AS.
Type whatever you want for the name of your card. Now on the SAVE AS TYPE under the title of your card hit the arrow button and scroll down until you see JPG files. Save it as a JPG file. (It works!)
Now you can upload it to SCS/your blog.
Hope that helps and makes sense!! If not, let me know and I'll try to make it clearer!
These were great instruction and worked....until I got to the final save point. I cannot save it as a jpeg. I did everything step by step as you outlined. I do not have the option in my drop down box to save as a jpeg. Any ideas?

Hmmm.....
I can only get the JPEG option on the save bar on the picture that I have inserted--it doesn't work on a regular Publisher document.
This is the option that I use:
JPEG File Interchange Format.
It's down at the bottom of the options of things to save as. I don't know what version of Publisher we have--it's the one with Windows XP. Maybe I have a different version???? I can ask my DH when he gets home...

*sigh* Ignore the weird HTML stuff...I'd edit it out if I could;)

That might be where the difference is. I have Publisher 2000 Version 6.0. I have Windows XP but I didn't get publisher with it, I'm using an older version. I'll play around with it and see if I can get it converted to a jpeg.
Hmmmm. Got my watermark made, attached it onto a photo but when I upload the "new one" with the watermark (editing the existing photo in the gallery) it doesn't show up. Aaarrrggghhh! I am so computer illiterate...lol.

Oh well, off to try again.
I'm so computer illiterate I don't even know what the H#@##^^ you people are talking about!!! And my ****&^% husband won't help me!!!!! Can I buy a watermark mark??!!!!
ha ha ha, you are too funny! Isn't that always the way guys are...too busy to help when you really need them.
I know a lot of people willing to buy watermarks...I do believe I would be one of them. ha ha ha
Thanks so very much for posting these clear instructions. I did a "sample" upload elsewhere and it worked perfectly!!! For some reason when I tried to edit my existing photo in my gallery it would not upload the "new" photo with the watermark...weird or what.
I am so excited to now have my own watermark!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
And Parrothead, If I can do it, I know you can too!!!

Kick him in the shin and tell him that your girlie parts are on strike until he helps you:twisted:
Woohoo! Thank you for sharing this. I think I pretty much have it figured out. I just have to mess around with the transparency/font etc. to get it exactly how I want it. I followed your instructions and didn't run into any problems. I'm so excited to have my very own watermark. Thanks again.

Yea!!!! I'm glad it worked for you!!!
When you are on the "Save" page, there is a box under "File Name" that says "Save as type" and then has a drop down box. Click on the down arrow there, and then use the scroll to see *all* the types of files you can save as. Some are hidden until you scroll--that could be where it is for you.

Thanks, I know where to look but I don't have that as an option. My only options in publisher are:
Publisher Files
Publisher Templates
Publisher 98 Files
PostScript
Plain Text
Rich Text Format
Works 4.0 for Windows
Word 97-2000 & 6.0/95 -RTF
Works 6.0 & 7.0
WordPerfect 5.x for Windows
WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS
WordPerfect 5.0
and several more along that line. I'm pretty computer literate so I may try one of my other programs. I was just hoping I could follow someone elses instructions and save myself some time. Guess that's not going to be the case. Thanks anyways.
