Default Versamark....how long does it last??

My versamark is nasty looking. I know that happens and it doesn't really matter. BUT, now when I stamp it, it stamps a funny color. Instead of a watermark, its got a blueish/blackish tinge to it. I am thinking I need a new pad. I have wiped it off, reinked it....etc.

So I was wondering, how long does your versamark pad last?

Mine has lasted over 3 years (it was the first pad I bought). Once it starts to do the tinted (blue/black) I reink very heavily and it seems to be fine. I have 2 and they both have seem better days!

I'm with Britta...I've had mine for a while, and I get the bluish, black thing too, but I've re-inked with a lot of ink, and it seems ok, but before I heard of that, I had gotten a new pad, so I've been using that one solely for 'the watermark look' and use my other one for embossing...

Talking Only have one!

I only have one but I haven't been using it too long! I would say the same as with any lighter color ink. Just make sure that your stamps are really clean before you use them on these light colors...I use cleaning wipes sometimes because even if you are using a stamp cleaner sometime the blacks and blues don't come off all the way!

Also, it might be good to buy a new Versamark to use just when you want that Watermark image. And when Embossing and everything else use the old one with re-inker.

I have two of them, one to emboss with and one to stamp with since mine started looking terrible. I have had the first one at least 3-4 years and the other 1-2 years. I haven't reinked either one.

Me too and I am very anal, so I use the 'dirty' one with the stamps that look dirty and the other one for the stamps that are cleaner...for some reason the Versamark takes the ink off of the rubber that I can't get off with a baby wipe. Both pads I've had almost 3 yrs.
