Default Vacation in Tampa, Fl LLS??

I'm going on another vacation next weekend. This time I'm going to Tampa then over to Cocoa Beach to see the space launch. I'll be searching out Scrapbook/Stamping and Quilting shops. If you know of any that would be worth the trip, Please, Please, Please turn a sistah on to the addy, phone# or web site. I'd love to help out the economy!

HI! There was a store called "Whimsodoodle" in St. Pete. I am not sure if it is still there.

The store near Cocoa closed recently. :(

Here is a link that may help you.

Have fun!

Two summers ago, I stopped at a place called Scrappin in Paradise near St. Pete Beach. Just a few minute drive. Let me see if I can locate additional info. Definitely worth a stop. I picked up things that I hadnt seen before.

Whim-So-Doodle was still in business as of last Thanksgiving. They moved a couple years ago. Their current location is 237 2nd Ave. South in St. Pete (close to Tropicana Field), and their phone number is (727) 827-4911. They're *definitely* worth a visit.

Scrapbooking in Paradise is a good store, too. Kim already gave their address; their phone number is (727) 302-9100. They're in a corner of a strip mall. Depending on which direction you're coming from, the store can be hard to see off of Gulfport Blvd.

Can you stop in Lakeland on your way from Tampa to the East Coast? If so, schedule plenty of time--Violette's is a great shop:

http://violettes.com/common.php?at=h

And, here's a link to shops members of StampTV's Florida group posted:

Please note that the stores listed are throughout FL, not just in the Tampa area.

Enjoy your trip!

I don't know of any LLS's in Tampa, but I wanted to say "welcome" to Cocoa Beach to see the launch!

I hope it isn't scrubbed this time. Evening launches (even though it won't be dark when the shuttle goes up) are much cooler than daytime launches. (OK, that sounds just a bit jaded!)

Oh yeah, you should be going up I-4 through Lakeland on your way to Cocoa Beach, so be sure to stop at Violettes. I have never had the opportunity to go there, but I have heard wonderful things about her shop.

All the stores mentioned above are actually NOT in Tampa. You'll have to go over the bridge and into the downtown and beach areas to get to WhimSoDoodle and Scrapbooking in paradise. However, there is a fantastic scrapbook store in Tampa, called The Scrapbook Shoppe. It is on Westshore Boulevard, south of Kennedy. It's very large, has a nice kids play area and the owners are very helpful and friendly. Where are you staying?

Anyway, their blog is at:http://thescrapbookshoppe.typepad.com

I second the suggest to visit Violettes when you are on the way to Cocoa Beach. They have a really nice stamp selection.

Whim So Doodle and Scrapbooking in Paradise are good stores, but I don't think they are better than TSS in Tampa. (I visit all three on a regular basis). Especially if you are looking for stamp supplies. Unfortunately there are no real good stamp stores at all in Tampa, I actually order most of my stamps online.

The Patchwork Pig in Lakeland is a very nice quilting store. http://www.patchworkpigoflakeland.com/. Unfortunately none that I really know of in Tampa. Tampa has sort of become a desert when it comes to specialty craft stores. Very little in the way or sewing or papercrafts, my two favorite hobbies.

Have lots of fun in Tampa!!! PM me if you need suggestions on anything else.

A word of caution ... I just saw online that the launch may be scrubbed on Saturday due to bad weather. I would suggest checking www.spaceflightnow.com before heading out to Cocoa Beach.

That's a long drive if you don't get to see the shuttle go up. Although, you could spend the day at Port Canaveral. There are some good restaurants there
