Uninspired Unmotivated

I've looked at different websites, I've looked at magazines, I've looked at books, they all look great, so cute, so awesome, so great, I want to try. But I'm still not inspired or motivated and if I try it'd take me forever and they're just ok. I have some new stamps and tools but not sure what to do with them and I know I need to get caught up on some cards before the holidays not to mention a holiday craft show that I'm participating in two weeks from now.

The same with scrapbooking. I did a couple layouts last weekend but I started out just staring at my computer screen before I did the two I just posted. Usually I can just start working, be feeling really good, and having a good time.

What do you guys usually do to get out of this funky situation?

Thanks,
The blah...

Definitely try doing some challenges--gets you moving at least. Also, try not to look at too much stuff--sometimes the thought of keeping up or trying to do things the way another stamper does things can be very overwhelming...

Try the sketch challenge on SCS--one of the best ways imho to get in the mood to stamp when you dont feel motivated. (And this is speaking with lots of experience! ha!)

Good luck!

Yep, we've all been there. I've looked guiltily at all my supplies and wondered if 'it' would ever come back. But it does. And as mentioned, a challenge can help you over the hump.

Sometimes I just stamp an image and colour it, and lay it on different CS, without pressure to make a full card. A good idea and inspiration can happen accidentally.

Good luck, and don't be too hard on yourself.

As a demonstrator, I would love to hear from my customers if they were feeling this way. I could sit down with them and their supplies and help them think of ideas. Or, we could exchange e-mails and/or phone calls. To me, the worst feedback is no feedback -- If I don't know they are feeling this way, I can't help them. Have you talked to your demonstrator? If not, let them know!
Good luck,
Debbie

Thanks guys, I've never done a challenge. I guess it's still early for me so I can do one... or attempt.

Debbie... here's the worst part... I am a demonstrator... URGH... where's my upline? On a 3 mo. vacation.

I totally agree with Cammie, the sketch challenge is a great place to get motivated. I hadnt made an original card since I dont know when until I started doing the challenges!! Now I make atleast one a day. I am not as good as I want to be, but I am definitely learning alot trying!!

So do you just pick any one of the challenges? I haven't read the stickys but spent some time looking at all the different ones.

Sometimes I like to case a card that I love in the gallery and try to do it the exact same way. I'll do a few of these just to get the juices flowing again...

So am I. Usually I shop. However, I've decided to clean, organize and make a layout of my craft room, where stuff should go, and make an inventory. Then I'll shop!! maybe then the mojo will return.

I feel like I'm in that same funk right now. You know I think it is perfectly fine to just let this pass. You cannot force creativity. I know my mojo will be back so for now I am just enjoying other things. Hope you can find what works for you.

Yes! Just pick one of the challenges...there are so many to choose from. What grabs you? A sketch, a technique, a limited supply challenge? A scrapbook challenge (those have been revamped btw, *grin*)....

You can even look at past challenges if nothing new jumps out at you. What about the holiday stuff they are posting tutorials on this week? Check the home page for that info...girl if ya need help just holler.

I'm feeling this too...not to the point you are but I have caught myself walking into my craft room with a so-called brilliant idea and then turn around and walk out with nothing completed. UGH!

Oh and WELCOME TO THE SBS GROUP SISTAH!

I give myself my own challenges. I've written a few down. Sometimes I don't have a clue what to create and I feel empty, but I am learning to practice stamping even when I don't feel like it since I am creating several cards a week for my blog.
For example on some of my challenges to myself - use this color combination, incorporate this chipboard circle into my card, try two ribbons layered together.... Most of my challenges have to do with stuff I already have and could be as basic as use this stamp today. HTH and I agree with what's been said about relaxing and making something just because it's fun!

This is a great suggestion - creating your own challenges!

I also love everyone's idea of trying the challenges here - it's a great motivator!

Also, try grabbing a color wheel (if you have one) and choose a new and different color combo and a set you either haven't used or haven't used in a while, and just see what you can come up with. Don't feel like you have to throw in the kitchen sink to be creative. Just get the hands going again, and eventually the motivation will come around.

Just staying in the game is the best way to get the juices flowing again.
