I was cleaning and reorganizing my scrap/stamp area and came across some ugly stamps. When I first started stamping I would buy any stamp I could get my hands on. I have since became much more picky about my stamp purchases. But for some reason I have hung on to these even though I have never inked them. I wonder if any of you have ugly stamps in hiding???
I know what you mean though. I used to buy anything on sale. I also had this feeling like I had to have certain stamps, no matter what they looked like, I HAD to have certain themes, birthday, wedding, baby.
I've sold almost all the stamps that I never should have purchased. I'm down now to stuff I really love. It's way easier this way.

I've purchased ugly stamps, stickers, paper...you name it! LOL I am going through my craft room right now purging in an effort to free up some room since I am starting my own business, and it boggles my mind why I ever purchased some of this stuff. I kind of like your doctor stamp though...go figure!
...yeah... I have some 'what was I thinking" goodies... I also wanted to build up my collection really quick and settled for some doozies. And why do I still have them? Not sure. May need to donate them to kindergarten, the girls love to craft!

Hilarious! I like the one in the middle! What does that say about our taste! ROTFL!!!

I'll take that sign language "I love you" off your hands if you want! :-) I am hearing but come from deaf parents and am myself a sign language interpreter so there's lots of ways I could use that ugly stamp! lol
PS - I liked the doctor one, too! lol I would have unmounted it and used the sentiment in another way - not directly over the poor doc's head! lol

I love the sign language one. My 4 yo daughter and I have a little good-bye that we always do. We make that sign, then kiss our own hand, then touch our hands together.
I surley hope I offended no one, when I said that they were ugly. That's just me. Trust me, some of the stamps I have and think are beautiful you all may think are ugly!

You didn't offend me at all! In fact, I completely relate to your feelings about your ugly stamps! In the begining, I was buying every cheap, crappy stamp I could get my hands on. Because of that, I have hundreds of really, really crappy $1 stamps.
I finally gave a lot to my daughter but there are some (even the REALLY ugly and useless ones) that I haven't been able to part with! lol

I have the sign language stamp too and use it when I make cards for the Deaf members at church. But I know what you mean, I bought every stamp I came across when I first started stamping. How many wedding sets or stamps does one person need? I had at least double that amount. I also had a ton of baby stamps and invitation sets. And all the invitation sets had basically the same information, the font was just a bit different. Most of those early stamps have found their way to my nieces or donated somewhere else.
I think the doctor is ugly. The sign language one is fine for someone who would use it, and the little bag looks real country, like the stuff I used to buy. I definitely have my fair share of ugly stamps - I bought ones on sale like I used to buy my clothes, until I realized I really wanted to own stuff I wanted to stamp and wear.
It's fun to look back and see what we liked in the beginning. I have a box full of not-so-great Christmas stamps that I just cannot part with.

I'm sure you didn't offend anyone!
There are lots of very popular stamps that I think are hideous!
add more photos, u k never know maybe we could swop stamps
Not a bad idea! Especially for those of us who bought up every single $1 stamp out there just because they were "rare" or hard to find. Now we're stuck with butt ugly, useless stamps! lol But there's always going to be that ONE person who was DYING for that particular stamp! lol

i have to tell you those "ugly" diamonds old people's go sky high on the bay now a days because Diamonds put all their images onto compac disc's for sale and stoped making them in rubber...
(someday i want the couple through a windshield of a convertible...)
the woman's driving... its pretty funny ...
I did the same thing and would get any $1 stamp or "bundle" I could find. I would buy stamps on ebay that were in these 75-300 packages. I got one box full of 300 stamps, which I left in the box. Although I loved them at the time, I couldn't really get "into" using them. Now, 2 years later, I looked at them. Yikes!! Out of the 300 that cost me around $50, there are 9 that I actually like! Talk about expensive!!
I am also very selective about stamp sets that I buy from Stampin Up! now. I love all their sets, but I really have to make myself think through a decision to buy a set. At first I thought I was fickle, but now I realize that although I may think a stamp set is cute or would look great for a particular project, that doesn't mean it is "my style" and something I will use!
I've been thinking of having a sale too! Maybe I will resell them on ebay! LOL
I know what you mean, when i started out i would buy cheap, cheap, cheap just to build up my collection, now however i'd rather spend a lot of money on one good stamp that i know i will use time and time again! xx jo xx
I have a bunch that I ordered off ebay when I first started stamping a few years ago. I liked the images in the photo on the website but when I got them in person they were smaller/larger/less detailed/etc than I thought they would be. So they have had little or no use. I recently purged a lot of my craft stuff and those are now in a box that I will donated to the elementary school art department. They don't care what the image is (as long as it's not inappropriate for children) and can be assured to get lots of use (and abuse).
I used to buy grab bags because I usually would get some great stamps but mixed in were always some stamps that sometimes I couldn't even figure out what they were supposed to be, but my all time favorite is one that I keep but could never use says:
Santa knows you are a rotten little ba_ _ trd
It just cracks me up and thankfully I don't know anyone that deserves it, but just in case I keep it around as you never know....
I bought a naughty Santa stamp - because it was hilarious but I can't think who in the world I would ever give a card I made with it to.... But I can't seem to part with it.
