I saw a beautiful fall flower color pot and thus the color pallet for this card. Is it too random, does the purple kill it. The photo is not great, the colors are wassabi, eggplant, cherry cobbler and summer sun. I thought about putting some jute twine on the band of purple. I need to make about 30 that are flat for mailing. Thanks for the input!
What is hard to see on a picture is how well things match. I love the colors. . . but from the photo it doesn't seem that the green of the base card really matches the green on the image - same for the yellow. I like how the eggplant is repeated in the sentiment. . . but might think it would be better if the sentiment was cherry cobbler and you skipped the eggplant. Maybe.
Only because you asked:
1. I would replace the base with black.
2. Stamp the sentiment in Cherry
3. I would replace the center stripe with black and use a scallop or a pretty edge for a nice little touch.
Lovely card. Love the focal point and the colors. I am cool with the purple, but the green base is what I am noticing as the one thing that I would change. Maybe go with a different base? That should be easy to do... I see someone else above noted pretty much the same thing...It is a pretty card..Try a different base if you make another one. Thanks for sharing!
I can't use black for the base because the inside and a verse and poem printed on it. Different green, perhaps? Or Kraft? Any ideas
You could use a slip of light coloured paper for the inside sentiment if you wanted to use a dark colour for your base. I have no critique though. I think the card is lovely and the advice you received already is sound.
I agree with "not2shabbydesigns" that a black background would make your colors pop and it would go with your stamped image and sentiment. When I use a black card base I then cut a piece of copy paper or some other paper to put my sentiment on. You can stamp it or print it then cut it small than the card. It lines both sides of the inside of the card. Does that make sense? I attach it just on the inside left, so that the part with the sentiment is loose like a page.
If you don't want to use a black base how about putting a black layer on? I do that a lot and it really does make your card pop. Maybe a darker green like garden green would work better. I think it's lovely though.
Oh, yes, Kraft would be perfect instead of black for the base and stripe. Kraft is more of a natural/nature color than black. I would love to see it on kraft 'cause your PEAR is GORGEOUS!
I changed the green to old olive, changed to chalks from water color pencils (non su!, not the best colors) added the black mat and black band. I tried the Kraft but the black really made the colors pop!
I really like the original card design best but I think it would look awesome if you made it with the Old Olive instead of Wasabi. In any case, both designs look fab! I really like the color scheme and will have to remember to try it!
