I just wanted to know if there is anyone or has anyone been "too chicken" to upload in the gallery.
I take pictures of all my work wth he intent of posting it. I even bring up the uploading page but..... can not bring myself to do it:confused: . I know I am just being a coward and need to get over it. I have no idea what it is confidence maybe ?? I also would like to do swaps and such but don't. sometimes I even do challenges and don't post to gallery.
Did this happen to anyone? how did you get over it?
I didn't want to upload because 90% of my cards are CASED. I just decided to go for it and give credit to those wonderfully talented ladies that inspire me. I would just do it and do not get discouraged.
I don't do swaps because I tried one once and was burned pretty badly from that. I made very nice cards ( not CASED LOL ) in fact I did two swaps at the same time. The cards I received back I would never use because the quality and effort put into them was terrible. Some of them did not even use a quality cardstock or even put them together evenly or cut out things nicely. It was like swapping with kindergarten kids. But I hear good things on here with swaps so I would contact people that have done them and ask their opinions.
I just posted my first card on the gallery this week. I have been stamping awhile. Go for it. Everyone is very encouraging and it made me happy to read the comments. I will be downloading more on the weekend.
The nice thing about posting your cards is that you get to see how much you improve over time! I look back at some of my earlier cards and wonder what I was thinking! But another thing is...some people have given wonderful comments on the cards I didn't care for! Everyone's taste is different. A word of warning about Swaps....they're addictive! I've been in several now. So many amazingly talented women! I CASE a lot too. Using other's layout ideas and my changes. You can also do the sketch challenges. That helps with design. Go for it!
Ang, lots of people seem to feel this way for a while, but please just jump in and DO IT!
I don't know why many of us were afraid, like you to put our cards in the gallery. Like every other "first time" for anything, we have all been there and are with you. This place is the nicest, most encouraging spot you will find on the internet.
I finally decided to start posting my cards because I got tired of only having my retired hubby and tiny French Poodle to show them to. My hubby always smiles and says, That's nice", and the poodle was not interested in my cards once she found out they didn't taste good!
Take the plunge and start your gallery today. I promise you will be happy you did.

I was on the site for a couple of years before I finally uploaded anything. I was both under confident and not at all tech savvy. However, after all the great ideas I'd enjoyed viewing, I decided it was time to give back a little. People were very kind in their comments and I quickly figured out how to photograph, resize and upload my pictures. Now I'm addicted! I suggest playing along in the challenges if you enjoy feedback; you'll usually get a lot more comments from others who're playing along, especially if you post earlier in the day. Glad you've decided to take the plunge too! Gail

Aloha, from The Big Island!
I was reluctant to create a gallery, too.
I finally did it in January. My motivation was I joined the Christmas Card Challenge (CCC11). I'm glad I did it!
I CASE a lot, too.
Okay everyone I think 3 uploads in one night is enough ....
But again thank you everyone for all your kind words and encouragment. I hope to one day be as creative and advanced as all of you I did view everyones galleries and you all do such beautiful work!!....
Copy and Share Everything (I think) It means you find a card someone else did and copy it, but you can make a few changes if you like. I usually find one I like and change up the sentiment or embellishments...add a layer. I am not very original, so these other cards are inspirational. Now to go and check out yours. Congrats!
I was chicken... for years! lol
I just reciently got the nerve to download and it was the best thing! I have gotten such great comments and suggestions. It has been a great confidence boost.

Your cards are good! I'm glad you uploaded! I think EVERYONE should upload here...it should be a rule, at least have ONE thing in your gallery:-) I hate finding an empty gallery. I like randomly clicking and looking! I also feel like I "get to know you" through your gallery and style! Be not afraid my friends:-D
And as someone else mentioned, it's really fun to go back and look where you started and where you are!!!
Thank you everyone. I realy like the idea of going back and looking at my work and seeing how I grow. I know not eveyone is gonna like my work but thats okay too.
Also I am open to suggestions on how to grow n constructive crit.

You know, there's actually a thread on here somewhere about constructive criticism. If you have a card but you know it just needs "something" you can post a picture and the others give you ideas of what they think it might need. They seem to be honest, thoughtful and helpful so I wouldn't be afraid to post a card that I knew needed some "love." !!

I am frequently amazed at the beautiful cards I see here that have no posts at all. Maybe it is a timing thing - or the subject matter - but I see a lot of great cards that seem to be missed . So, what I am trying to say is, don't ever be discouraged. There are an awful lot of cards on this site!!!!

Anganny congratulations on uploading your great cards! I was pleasantly surprised by more than one in your gallery.

I really agree with this. It's hard for any of us to put ourselves out there. And I know it's easy to get discouraged - honestly if I made cards for the number of hits on my gallery or blog I would have quit a long time ago.
I currently have the delimma of whether to update my gallery - it seems I only blogged last year and didn't update my gallery! LOL! And I'm trying to transfer one computer to a new computer... which come to mention it I should be doing right now!
If I can post my cards then so can you. I've even put up a few HORRIBLE ones so I can compare how far I've come (and ....*sigh*... see how far I have yet to go). I see it more as a sharing than any kind of competition.

I see it as competition only with MYSELF! I don't compare my cards to anyone else because they are MINE! Some I hate, some I like, some I love! I post ugly cards now and then:-) And it is really fun to go back and see where you were and how you've grown and see what kind of style you develop...and sometimes it's fun to go "man, what was I thinking?" LOL! It's like the Nike slogan as far as posting....JUST DO IT:-)

I am so glad I did post some of my cards in my gallery, I have gotten such great comments that are very encouraging. I do agree with an earlier post " it is hard to put yourself out there."
I love looking at everyone's creations. To some a handmade card is just a handmade card. To me we are all designers...LOL. everyone here has such great style and technique I hope to be as advanced as all of you.
Because I did upload my cards and it was agreat expierience. I have been looking around at some of the challenges. Do any of you have a favorite challenge??

I have a lot of challenges I like, including the color combo and sketch challenges here! Disclaimer: most are SU challenges or SU related since I'm a demo and use only SU. BUT they are fun and inspiring none the less...I'll link to them:-)
I uploaded once a few years ago and got my fanny chewed for using the wrong category or something. I've never even tried since. I think about it a lot, though.

The two first uploads I did had to be moved into the right category. I did not put it with it's stamp sets. I hope you do upload soon. I have decided to just put in my member gallery if I am not sure where else to put it
I'm the exact opposite. I put all of my cards on the gallery, almost from the day I found this site. I'm not afraid of what people may think, although I know I have lots of room to grow. I put the cards I don't like up along with the ones I love.
I'm using my gallery to keep track of what I made. I'm not looking for approval, although I love getting comments and "favorited".
One thing I found is that no one will give negative feedback. This is truly the nicest on-line community I have ever been a part of.
I need to go find that thread for constructive criticism, because sometimes that's exactly what I want. I used to hope for constructive criticism on the cards that I knew weren't quite right, but there is never anything other than positive comments. I can tell when a card flops by the low number of comments, favorites, and views, but usually I'm well aware that it's a dud. Sometimes I think a card is fabulous and it gets almost no traffic, but the few times that happened I didn't have a great picture of the card in question.
And the few times a card has been selected as a weekly favorite, it totally made my day.

No blog for me. My gallery chronicles my card-making successes and mishaps.
I too am very chicken to post my cards. There is so much talent out there and I don't believe I measure up to all of you. One day, I may close my eyes and upload to the gallery.

To reply to this and the following post too, I'm sorry you felt you got chewed, Cindy. The current automatic email when a card is moved is more upbeat than the old one - try again and see . It's not a big issue at all when someone unfamiliar with uploading doesn't get it right first time - which of us doesn't learn by doing?

It took me approximately forever to figure out how to put cards into the right SU category, so I heard more than once that I'd put it in the wrong place. I felt terrible (and dumb), and it slowed down my uploading. But I kept plugging away and finally got it figured out (and really, it wasn't that hard to do).
The morale of the story: don't feel dumb, go ahead and upload with wild abandon! Or something like that. ;)
