Default Tips for making cards to mail in #10 envelopes

Hi fellow stampers!!

I am pretty new to card making so would love some ideas on cards you've made or tips for making cards that will fit in the #10 basic envelopes.

I'm using the #10 size envies because they are cheap, easy to find in my little town and don't require extra postage. I am planning on dressing them up with stamping, pretty papers...etc.

I will be using my cards to send to friends, ladies in my church group...etc. Just a little something to brighten their day!

Also do you do anything special with the length of the envelope (if your card is shorter)?

I've read about putting a cardstock border along the side of the envelope...folded around the edge to take up some of the extra space. I've also read about putting a little glue inside the envelope to close up the extra space.

Thanks so much for your help!!

Tammy

Hey, Tammie! I make cards this size from time to time- usually when I'm tired of being confined by the dimensions of an A2 card! Anyway, I love the long length of this size card and I think it's fun to play around with different designs! Think out of the box and try something new!

Also, I have also heard of people using scor-tape (or any other type of tape adhesive for that manner) to close off the part of the envelope that isn't being used. I've even seen people punch designs into that part of the envelope- super fun!

Here's a link to a card I made recently to fit in an #10 envelope!

I have also used the colored Mead envelopes that I picked up at either Walmart or Target (I can't remember). They were rather inexpensive as well as being bright and happy colors. They are sized longer but more narrow than the A2...3-5/8 x 6-1/2
