I had to share..I am reorganizing my craft room and cleaning my basement.
I had a 2 gallon ziplock filled to the brim. I threw it away...I even put coffee grounds on it to insure I wouldn't retrieve it. I have out grown: my area and really need to purge. This was a big step for me.

Good for you, it feels so good, doesn't it a note for future though, take your scraps to the craft centre in your nearest kindergarten or preschool. The little crafters love to clue pretty things!
For years I have given my scraps away to a day care near my work and to a senior group in my town. I also have given them to the art teacher at the elementary school near my home. I guess I'm not the only one with tons of scraps ( the big bag is the least of it)
No one really wanted them and I was hanging on to it to give later when they were more receptive. I decided that it was time for the to go.

If I were to take my scraps and put them all in one bag...well...I think they wouldn't quite fit in a quart freezer bag. Does that mean I don't have a "keep-the-scraps" addiction? ;)
Every time I open a new pack of paper, I throw away the scraps from the previous pack of paper. This helps keep the folders a manageable size - otherwise all the scraps collect at the bottom and the bottoms bulge and bulge... (I have hanging folders)
I keep my scraps with my full sheets and see if I can use them up before I cut into a full sheet. I noticed since I started keeping them together I have a ton less scraps. And I don't keep anything smaller then about a 3x3.
HAHA! Bravo - especially on the coffee grounds! I've been purging for 12 hours today - having a sale this weekend - so I feel your pain. I'm trying to go nuclear on the stash!
Tossed my entire big box of scraps into the recycle bin. Now there are a few pieces of current colors in it and I find I actually use them, much easier to see and use.

Scraps bigger than an inch I keep. I also keep my scrap pieces with the full sheets of the same color. I use page protectors to keep them in. I find that I'm using far more of my scraps since I started keeping them with my full sheets.
As I've been purging my crafts supplies (on a really large scale), I did find a stash of LONG retired SU CS that I'm donating to my local rec center.
I have also decided that from here on out when i get to a certain amount of little scrap pieces I'm going to use them to make recycled card stock. I've been looking for a blender at thrift stores that i can use to make the paper pulp. It's typically too coarse to stamp on but works great for backgrounds.

Well Done! I have found that unless it is a sizable piece of card stock, i.e. 4x4 or bigger and I don't use it immediately it will never get used...out it goes, I just do not have the time or brain capacity to store and hoard small pieces I will not use...when I have boxes upon boxes of uncut card stock.
I agree...it takes a lot of courage to dump coffee grinds on the paper to keep yourself from retrieving it. I have actually found some great inspiration on Pinterest for using scraps on cards....so, I guess I will continue to be hoarder!! LOL!!!
When I first started stamping about 14 years ago, my husband must have wandered around Michael's at Christmas looking for stocking stuffers for me. He was so pleased with himself when I reached into my stocking and pulled out.......a cellophane bag of scraps! Yep, scraps. I know all of you ladies are probably so jealous of me right now.
If you ever wondered who would actually PURCHASE scraps, well that would be Charlie, my husband.

we refloored the entire house last Sept and it was like moving. I threw out bags of scraps and a lot of other stuff and have not missed any of it so good for you!
Blessings
I cut mine into the sizes that I use most for PL and photo mats. Then I use my punches on the smaller pieces. I keep the punched shapes right on my desk and end up using them up this way.

I try not to keep scraps under 3" but sometimes when I'm in a rush I'll just toss everything in it's applicable drawer (I store scraps in drawers). When the drawer starts to fill up I start tossing the small pieces because it seems they are just a little to small for what I want.
I just re-read Valerie Cathleen's post LOL. When my husband and I were first married we went to the hardware store and bought a bag of Rags...We only had brand new towels...
I am now the proud owner of a very large rubbermaid tub of rags ( 40 years worth of old towels diapers etc) Whem my kids were setting up households I made sure they were gifted with a large bag of rags LOL. I also took some to the Salvation Army..They told me they would accept them as long as I specafied that it was a bag of rags. I guess they get contractors coming in to buy old Clothes ect for rags. Hmmmm I wonder if they would take paper scraps?

Reason: typo
I destashed & sold a lot of my Project life stuff last month and made back almost $200 which was then used to buy card making stuff. I have decided I am going to destash abou every 2-3 months, I really end up with stuff I forgot I had or stuff I know I am not gonna use. As for the paper scraps, I haven't worked on that yet, I was actually thinking about it yesterday. I just don't like throwing my pretty paper away! (I know I am not the only one right?)
