THANK YOU To anyone who has written a tutorial or made a video
I just watched a video on how to use a Crop-A Dial and it occurred to me that without these videos and tutorials how many tools like this would be sold ?
Written instructions supplied with products are often "one step up" from useless
Companies think their sales reps are responsible for sales. They are very wrong. It is the unsung heros that generously give of their time and expertise to show us how to use these products.
I wonder if companies realize how lucky they are to have people freely teach others to use their products?
I know I owe a debt of gratitude to anyone who has written a tutorial or made a video to show me how to use the products available or given me recipes and tips to duplicate cards they made.
Writing a tutorial or making a video takes a lot of time and preparation.
Thanks!!
Barbara
What Barbara said! I don't know what I would do without all you wonderful ladies out there - I have learned so much from this site - especially Beate's videos for "visual learners"
I really love to read this! It seems that so many threads lately have had petty complaints about video tutorials, even going as far as complaining about nail polish colors! It's nice to hear somebody saying thank you to those who take so much time to share!
I'm really starting to like videos. Watching one doesn't require any thinking and although making a video is time consuming it's so much easier to explain/show in a video than it is to make a photo tutorial.
I definitely want to add my thanks to all the people out there that make tutorials, video or written with pics. I live in a small town and without these tutorials I would still be at step one in stamping and scrapbooking!
I am in complete agreement with everything that has been said. I used to go to conventions and take as many classes as possible. After finding SCS and all of the wonderful people who posted videos on how to use tools and how to do a multitude of techniques I pretty much go to conventions now and spend all my time in the merchandise areas buying stuff. When people ask me how I know so much I direct them to this site and tell them to prepare themselves because they are getting ready to be overwhelmed with fantastic information.
I would also like to say that the people who make the videos for our benefit don't gain anything - except - knowing they are sharing their experience and talent and helping others. I'm guilty (sigh) of once making a not so nice comment about a video tutorial I saw. I regretted it the second I clicked on post reply. It's not like me to make a sarcastic comment especially when it relates to someone who in effect is helping ME. I must have been having a bad day. Never too late to apologize. I'M SORRY. Had I known at the time that I could delete the post I would have. These video tuts are great for me. I tend to gain more from a visual tutorial.
I also want to add my huge THANK YOU!!!! I can't tell you how much money I wasted before I found this site! I used to buy books, magazines and subscription "how-to"s constantly. However, rarely did I find them worth the money and once I viewed them, seldom remembered where I saw the info. I spent literally "thousands" on these and am now getting rid of them gradually in my effort to declutter.
It's a good thing I'm single or else a partner would have dumped me for all the money I've spent on this craft. But since I'm my own boss, I can continue to buy what I want, but have cut down considerably after realizing I'm more a buyer than a user.
A huge THANK YOU from me too for all of the tutorials here on SCS and for the video tutorials on you tube. I would not be where I am today with this hobby without all of the FREE tutorials.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE!!
Well said. I couldn't agree more. There are so many items I've purchased (especially pricey ones) that I wouldn't have purchased if it hadn't been for the non-company videos and tutorials that all those un-sung crafters have put out on their blogs and other sites. I wasn't about to spend the money if I didn't think the product would be worth the cost. Once I saw others raving about the products and actually showing how to use it and the possibilities, only then did I purchase, and not one time has it been because of videos that the company put out.
I JUST joined this group. I found videos on YouTube which led me here. I would like to add my heart felt thanks, also. I am a very visual learner. I have been stamping for about 12 years now, and still have lots to learn! Right now, I am learning to use my Cuttlebug and finding different ways to fold my cards.
I'd like to add my thanks also.
I've been lurking here for quite some time and I've learned so much from the talented people here. The resources tab is one of my favorites and I think it's so wonderful the folks that have taken the time to make up those tutorials.
At this time of Thanksgiving let me add my thanks too!!!
I live in a small area with no scrapping or stamping stores. I have learned so much about products and techniques from this site!! I have also gotten to know some wonderful ladies/11
Tutorials help me really understand how to do something!! Sometimes I just need to see someone else do it!!!!
Thank you too Barbara for thinking to post this thank you thread!!!
I too am a visual learner...I truly appreciate the time and energy that goes into creating video tutorials. I love the fact that I can pause, rewind, replay as many times as I need to.
What a great thread! I too would love to say a very BIG THANKYOUto all those people who take the time to do videos - having done my own video editing (but not tutorials) I know they take alot of planning and an extraordinary amount time to make and to edit - I have learnt so much from them and I am very grateful.
Add me to the list of Thank you's and deep appreciation for all our video and tutorial's. I appreciate and grateful for all the hard work you do. The treasures and education you give us on a daily basis is the best gift in the world.
I am laughing about the nail polish! Nail Polish complaints? Girls & Guys I love your polish.
