Hey all your Texans--where can I buy a stamp of Texas. My son is in 'deep east Texas' serving a two year mission for our Church. I would love to make him some fun 'Texas' notecards.
He called on Christmas and is lovin' Texas and the people he is meeting and serving. Thanks!
p.s. he ends his e-mails and letters with 'ya'll stay sweet now!'
I was just at this store last weekend, and they have a huge selection of Texas stamps - you can click on the Texas outline at the bottom left to look at some of their samples. They don't seem to have online ordering, but if you like one they use in their samples, you could contact them and see if you could order it over the phone.
Those are great ones, Shanon! I have some from Deadbeat Designs, but I can't find an online catalog for you. You can call Stamp Salado (http://www.stampsaladotexas.com/), and they can help you! Check their gallery to see some of the Deadbeat Designs samples.

Alright Shannon and Jeanne, next time you are planning a trip there, let me know!! My parents live in Salado (35 min. from me), and I am up there ALL of the time!!! We need to meet there! Gotta LOVE Salado! And it is a great store. It's amazing how she gets so much in that little place!

i stopped in Stamp Salado last summer on my way home to Louisiana . It is an amazing store. I just wandered from room to room trying to decide what i wanted to buy. I think i met the designer for Deadbeat Designs in there that day, but i can't remember what his name was. It is a wonderful store.
smallcity
I am so bad- I live 20 minutes from there in Georgetown and have never been there. AND I've known about it for a couple of years! What is wrong with me? I know that there are classes held there- really am gonna have to check it out sometime, ya think?
I am from East Texas, what city is your son living in? I live in Troup, Texas, which is 25 miles southeast of Tyler, Texas.
I hope you son enjoys himself. I am sure he will, it is a wonderful place to be. The weather is cool this morning but is suppose to get up in the 70's by afternoon. You just never know what you are going to wake up to.
Mark Jetton is the artist who has Deadbeat Designs. He used to be here in Houston and did some designing for my friend at Papers by Catherine. I have never been there, but my neice lived in Salado and said it was great.
There was a lady who used to have a beautiful line of Texas stamps. Her name was Joyce Meyer and her company was called Jamnstamps. I don't know if she is still in business. He email was jamnstamps @hotmail.com. I took some classes from her.
Nice thread - looks like I need to make a trip to Salado. But in the meantime, back to the original question. Sunday International (the EZ Mount company) has a Texas set designed by Dee Gruenig; they also do an outline stamp of each state with its flower. Wish I could post a thumbnail for you all to see, but this link will get you there:
This little shop - Stamp Salado - is one of the best stamp shops in all of central Texas, and yes, I've been in quite a few. Mark worked there for a while and his samples are stunning. He was devoting his time to Deadbeat Designs the last I heard. Even though it's a small place, you can easily spend an hour there because there is so much packed in from basic supplies to stamps from a very wide variety of companies. The folks I've met there have always been friendly and full of ideas. Enjoy your visit!
Ditto on Stamp Salado. I just went there in December, and it was the most wonderful assortment of stamps I'd ever seen. Plenty of Texas ones (I got a bluebonnet).

We just moved from Salado in June of last year. I am happy to see that Sandy is still there and that SS looks better than ever. I hope Scissors (the cat) is still there and well. I just loved her and her store. They were so helpful to me when I was first starting out. Actually, Mark showed me how to heat emboss while standing right at the register! I would highly recommend them.

Oh, I have to chime in! I love Stamp Salado. LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! I teach classes there pretty often. Sandy, the owner is awesome and just a great, great person. Mark, of Deadbeat Designs, still works there once a week. Scissors, the cat, lives with Mark these days.
Thanks my Texas friends--my son spent 4 months in a little town called Hemphill he loved it! He is now in Plano TX and loving it too.
So, it looks like I need to order a catalog since I'm in Utah and Stamp Salado is not!
If you want some images I have some and will be glad to send them to you if you pm your address. I have an antique map, the Lone Star and, of course, jalapenos.
I went to Stamp Salado yesterday Love it!! I was looking for a Texas stamp and bluebonnets...I wouldn't have known about it if it wasn't for this thread Thanks OP!! Stef
Hi Sheila,
I am from Pflugerville, but cant plan a trip too soon, I just went yesterday!! I am gonna have to save up some money really can spend alot there. Have great day. Stef
I've wanted to go to Salado a couple years and never seem to make it.Since I always
seem to be the planner, guess I'll haveto plan a field trip for a couple girls.
Joyce did gorgeous stamps. She has gone out of business.I had heard someone bought her rights but I have not seen the stamps show up again. I would think the folks at Stamp Salado,
Memory Depot (Austin), or StampAntonio would know because I think she taught at all of those stores.
SU had a great set which might be discontinued. I think it was called Bronco
Buster. Surely there is an SU person out there who can respond.
