I have all 48 stamp pads and I usually use those to watercolor. I have the watercolor pencils and the pastels, but very rarely use them. I understand you can color right on the stamp with the crayons, but I do that with my markers. So, tell me, why do I need these?
Just finishing up my Christmas list and wondering if I should put these on it.
Well, you probably don't **need** these...but since then has that slowed us down?
I love them...they are totally different from the ink pads, pencils and markers and really fun to use. You can be much more artistic...blending colors, doing a really light wash of color, moving color around. You have much more control than you do with ink...the color is moveable.
They are my favorite recent purchase...I think you'll love 'em!

You're right of course, I don't *need* them! ;) The problem I have with watercoloring with the stamp pads is sometimes it's hard for the lighter inks to get the color to show up. Is the color more intense? If I get these do I need the watercolor paper??
I got the watercolor crayons in August, and I haven't been terribly impressed with them. I find the color to be more vibrant when I color with inks/refills. They are more convenient to color with, however. I still haven't gotten the hang of coloring on the stamp, spritzing and stamping. My stuff comes out looking like a blob.

You can really control the intensity of the color. That's the bottom line for me...you have much more control overall with these. For more intense color I color directly on the image with the crayon, then use an aquapainter to blend, spread, etc.
I have yet to try the watercolor paper. As long as you don't overwork the paper the regular works fine.

p.s. I'll send you a little palette of these if you'd like..I hear you can scribble on vellum, then pick up the color with an aquapainter. Just pm me your address!

I just wanted to thank you ladies for giving me ideas on how to use them. I got the crayons in Sept. and there they sit. I will dig them out today and see what happens. Thank you again.
