I love all the responses...and have really enjoyed the different ways people express themselves......I had to think.......why do I love stamping so much and am fully addicted.......
Well because it satisfys me....and it calms me......I love to give give give something that I take the time and make myself......it is a gratification feeling and emotion but more than that.......it brings peace and joy to my spirit.....
There is something about stamping and creating that just calms me......and soothes my nerves ....
I was one of those who said I'd NEVER get into stamping! Now look at me! I've done so many crafts over the years, but I love stamping because there's always something new...so many techniques that you could never master them all! There's always some new embellishment or tool to use. I don't think I'll ever get bored with stamping as I have with other crafts.
I find it a very rewarding pastime. Each card is a piece of yourself that you can share with others. I also enjoy the feed-back I get from people who have purchased cards from me. They tell me that they get calls and letters from the recipients, thanking them for the cards, and they never experienced that when sending store bought greetings.

For me, it is a combination of factors. First, don't need to know how to draw! Second, tremendous variety of stamps, papers, etc. Third, ability to CASE and to develop and grow. Also, it is the kind of hobby that you share with someone. folks love getting cards! Plus, the whole on line experience -- I've met so many folks both in real life and over the web who are stampers. Great people!!

well, aside from shopping for the supplies.........
I dont need to know how to draw.
I can ALWAYS make the 'perfect' card for friends/family - no more hunting for the right card in stores!
As for cardmaking vs scrappin - I do both, but love the quick easy and instant gratification of card making, and the satisfaction I get from scrapping is the preservation of the memories.
I think you can just do so much more with stamppin.you can still stamp in your scrapbooks.I am a scrapper also and just love how more versatile stamps are.you can do so much more with them go into the gallery and just check out all the ideas for stampin.anything but a card sections gives you lots of ideas on what you can do and how you can expand your projects by using stamps.
Plus you can make your wn homemade cards.and never have to buy cards again.
__________________ WHAT IS A STAMPPIN ADDICT!
It's someone who buys stamps they didn't normally like at first, only to see it in Split Coast Stampers gallery in a different perspective.
I just love everyone's answers and have to agree with everyone. But I think the thing that hooked and reeled me in was the artistic aspect of it. I have always thought of myself as an artistic person with no talent. I can see it, I can imagine it, but I couldn't create it, until now that is. Stamping gives me the oppurtunity to express myself, feel artistic, and best of all share it with other. To make a long story short, it fulfills the need to create.
Thanks wrenchgirl--this pretty much says it for me. I want to be creative but don't have a lot of the skills to do it on my own. Stamps help me create what I can see in my mind.
It gives us all a legitimate reason to get out the paper, scissors, glue, crayons and be creative - be that kid again that we had to guit being at some point :-)
I agree with so many of the answers above. It quickly scratches that artistic itch; it's a wonderful feeling to give a card or homemade object to someone and watch the look on their face when they realize you made it just for them; and it's the joy in teaching someone how to do something new or just teaching someone to make their first card and see the look of accomplishment on their face. Something that's this much fun, why wouldn't we want more of it? :-)
