Yup, it's official, I have my demo number and password!

Talked to the sweetest lady at demo support (couldn't wait for the demo number, just had to call tonight - she knew just why I was calling, I guess they get that a lot!)

soooo excited - and I have my first workshop booked! Yikes, I am feeling a bit nauseous!

That is so cool - I didn't realize we could do that! I may have to call in the morning....although I have so much to do tomorrow, maybe it would be better if I didn't have it!

Don't think of this as being nervous, ladies. Think of it as being giddy. You know, like just before you go out on a date with the guy you had a huge crush on? There's really nothing to be nervous about -- you're gonna do great! Once you have your demo number go up to the sticky that tells you how to get access to the demo boards and follow the directions. You will find lots of resources there, as well as on the Su website! Welcome!

Everyone here on the board is so helpful... I was on the fence and just took the plunge... Just became a member Friday when I received my demo #... I am sure between you and a friend or two, you will have no problem meeting the quota... Just the preview catalog alone, and I am 1/2 way there...If you have a few friends who are just as interested as you, just have a card or scrap night where you demo a few things. Everyone must agree to buy $25-30 worth of supplies, each taking a turn as the hostess this way each of you gets a hostess set, if you do a round robin so to speak (This is not my idea, someone posted this and IMO it is a fantastic idea)...

My DH like yours is extremely supportive so you are lucky. Good luck in your decision, and keep us posted...

Debbie

Sorry I haven't been on lately. Thanks for all or your input. Maybe DH wouldn't mind me doing it just to get the discount b/c he sees how much I buy.

I did the figuring and it is just about 100.00 with the tax and shipping charges unless you live in a tax free state.

I'm getting really excited! I have a question that maybe you guys can help with!

Am I making it up, or do I recall some promotion about an extra percentage off of a demo's first order?

Thanks!

Thanks so much Shelly, I overnighted my application on Tuesday the 29th only because I wanted to make the 31st deadline.. (I am in New York it was going cross country) anyway, I received an e-mail on Thursday, May 31st giving me a password, but I wasn't able to call until Friday to get my Demo #...All in all in really went quick, my Kit Order shipped and I should have that on June 8... I am excited!!! Cann't wait to play..

Good Luck,
Debbie

Yes, there is an additional 10% on your first Demo Order, must be placed within 45 days of your 'active date', which I think is the day SU processes your app.

Try a practice order on the SU Demo site, it will reflect the add'l savings.

Okay, another question. People have referenced "demo orders" - is there a
difference between a demo order and a party order?

TIA!

On a demo order you only get charged shipping and tax on the amount you pay (the price AFTER your discount).

Ah, I think I see. So, I probably don't want to stay a part of the 6 month club I've been in that my upline is turning over to me? Or do I just weigh the amount of tax against the opportunity to earn hostess sets?

I'd stay with it until your obligation is done, but then it's going to be turned over to you, so you can run it how you want

Actually, yesterday was our last one, and everyone wants to restart and do another six months, but I'm one of the six, so I need to figure out what to do asap so we can set the dates and the hostess months...

You could either sign up and do the next 6 months as the demo or wait 6 months to sign up....OR you could sign up now and be the demo AND the 6th....

Just to clarify, you can use the 30% on any order -- a customer order, a demonstrator order or a workshop order, as long as it's an order of $150 or more in merchandise. And it does have to be pleaced within 45 days of the official start date.

Got onto the demo side of SCS (forget about sleep!) but now I can't get into the demo side of the SU site anymore! I have to call DS when I get back from gymnastics and swimming with the kids - being in Utah, I imagine they're not open this early.

Well, if you break it down, it's $100.

Take that $100, now deduct your 20% instant income = $80
Add in your shipping = $88
Add in 7% tax (for the sake of needing a number) = $94.16

That's a few stamps a month or a bunch of cardstock. And if you have a couple friends who would be willing to place an order for a few items (even if it's just a pack of cs each month) that'll help as well. It's not as hard to make as you'd think....

One question on this topic: Whether it's a customer order or demo order, it will still count towards the $300, minimum, right? Or does it HAVE to be submitted as a customer order to "count"?

All of your product purchases count for your minimums regardless of whether they are sumitted as a customer order or a demo order.

The only purchases that do not count towards your purchases are business supplies that are purchased through a supply order (things like catalogs, minis, order forms, etc.).

The great thing about SU is that they give you a lot of time to get started. You do not have to meet your first minimum until your first full quarter. So if you signed up on July 2, your first full quarter would not start until September. So you really have until the end of December to meet your first $300 quarterly minimum. That shoudl be enough time to find some friends who will also get hooked on stamping and will help you meet or exceed your requirements.

Moreover, if for whatever reason you do not meet the quarterly minimum, there is no penalty. You have another month to meet whatever remains from your minimum plus and additional $100 for the new quarter and if you still cannot do that then you simply drop as a demo. And you get to keep everything you purchased with your discount. So there's no downside.

But truly, if you sign up with a business minded demo who can provide you with great support as you're starting out, not only is is fairly easy to meet the minimum, it's easy to go beyond as well. So my recommendation would be to sign up under a business minded demo regardless of whether you intend to do this as a business, because if you ever change your mind your upline is there as a resource.

That's good know. I wasn't aware of when quarters began and when deadlines had to be met. So quarters are Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun July-Sept, Oct-Dec? If that is correct than how does July 2nd get you until December?

Just when you are starting out, SU gives you until the end of your first full quarter to meet your minimums. Since the first quarter of the year starts on July 1, if you were to join on July 2 or any time thereafter until September 30, your first full quarter would start in October. If you were to join now (before the end of June) your first full quarter would start in July.
