This is my DD's first year of school and I want to make something for her teachers. I sent a wreath at Christmas and some nice chocolate at Easter and she got Pumpkin Poop like everyone else at Halloween. And I need ideas for something different and useful. Also, coaches gifts?

So many ideas in the "anything but a card" gallery. My favorite is to cover small notebooks and add a beaded pen ( really like to cover the kind at Wally's that has a cardboard cover and a pocket in the front flap for notes and reciepts, 1.99 I think). Useful and unique! Speaking as a teacher myself, it's not another apple mug (not that I don't appreciate everything a student gives me, I just have alot of mugs). There are great examples in the gallery.

stamp a set of thank you cards. My kids always get thank you notes for every thing that they give them. You might even think of including some postage stamps. Candles, bookmarks, and beaded pens are high on our teachers lists. Just remember you will be come well known and next years teachers will be hoping to have your kids in thier class. Our elemantary art teacher was in a panic to think that my last child was on to middle school until we reminded her that I have one more... then she had to start counting how many years till she retired, She thinks she can hold out till the youngest child makes it through.

That's funny. I think I decided to go with the thank you cards. She is currently sending out a printed flyer type thank you.
My question is? Should I use a kid set? or maybe make one kid and one for her personal use.

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. We are doing something different each day. Here are what all of my daughters' teachers are getting.
1. Chocolate, the girls maka the stamped wrappers to cover them.
2. A bottle of Shower Gel or Bubble Bath tied with cute ribbon and a note.
3. Fresh Cut Flowers
4. Beaded Pen and Notepad
5. A set of Monogrammed Cards (with the teacher's initial)
For the cards, I designed them and then each daughter exactly CASES them for her own teachers. We do them in an assembly line fashion because my girls have multiple teachers. I think it is more fun to do a little something everyday rather than a main thing one day.
If you want ideas that relate to stamps, then I would suggest:
-a stamped memo cube (which I see someone else already said).
-a "class" book. See if you can sneak in and "help out" one day... take a stamp pad along and get each of their handprints on a piece of cardstock. Take a disposable camera and catch a pic of each kid. Create a little album with a pic of each kid, their name, and their handprint. It would be a nice keepsake.
-some stamped stationary, with her name - thank you cards always come in handy for teachers...or you could make her some "can't wait to meet you cards" for her to send her students next year.
-a classroom stamp set
Non-stamp ideas:
- I've never met a teacher who didn't appreciate a gift certificate to the movies, a coffee place, or a teaching supply store.

Here is a really cute poem for a teacher/caregiver. Thought I'd share...
Forever In Your Heart
Although you're not their mother
You care for them each day.
You cuddle, sing and read to them
And watch them as they play.
You see each new accomplishment
You help them grow and learn.
You understand their language,
You listen with concern.
They come to you for comfort,
And you kiss away their tears.
They proudly show their work to you,
You give the loudest cheers!
No, you are not their mother,
But your role is just as strong.
You nurture them and keep them safe,
Though maybe not for long.
You know someday the time will come,
When you will have to part.
But you know each child you cared for,
is forever in your heart!
As I teacher I say go with the thank you cards but do them up in a non-teacher way. It is a GREAT teacher gift and the kiddos LOVE getting cool thank you cards. Along the lines of what lbirus said. We appreciate everything we get and it is def. the thought....but who ever decided if you are a teacher you must love apples?!
When we make thank you cards to give to teachers my kids just make regular size cards and leave the inside blank so the teachers can write a personal message. I like too let them work on these when ever I have to get out my stuff when they are home. I also let them use my practice cards I make with non SU cardstock, limited budge can't afford mistakes with the good stuff :-). My kids started stamping w/Grandma before I started so they are very good and it also helps me to get new ideas.

This makes me LOL. I made a binder at school and sent a page to each teacher/faculty member. I had them list their favorite color, cookie, restaurant, food, place to shop..etc. I put a line for gifts that they really loved receiving and a line for gift they'll never need another of. MUGS was the overall winner. My daughters science teacher told me of the time that he picked up a gift bag to move it and the mug inside came through the bag and broke. He recognized the mug. Slipped over to his cabinet and replaced the broken mug with the same mug from his cabinet.

Pagemaster, Thanks for the reminder. My son's school is doing the exact same thing next week and I completely forgot about it. Are you in the Everett School district? Penny Creek Elementary by any chance? Take care and have a GREAT week!
Next Tuesday is Caregiver Appreciation Day at my sons' daycare. I made a thank you card for the daycare ladies but had no idea what to put inside. That poem is *perfect*. Thanks so much for that!
