My soon to be 4 year old wants a Tea Party for her birthday. I have a few ideas, but thought I would ask the creative pool here on SCS.

A Mad Hatter/Alice in Wonderland Tea Party would be so much fun!
I used to put on lavish tea parties for my daughter when she was little. . . bought old prom dresses, gloves, and shoes from the Good Will for her and her friends to dress up in, and I would bring out my vintage teacup collection. Served cucumber sandwiches, a salad garnished with nasturtiums . . .etc. and I would make sugared violas for the cupcakes.
So much fun! What great memories!

Subscribing! One of the ladies in the Mom's meetup group that I organize is hosting a Tea Party Lunch Playdate in a few weeks. Would love some creative ideas!
Julie, thanks for the idea on the old prom dresses and stuff. I'm gonna hit the thrift stores this weekend.

when my DD did the tea party for my granddaughter they had little purses which had a little pearl necklace, a pair of lace gloves, a candy necklace and earrings, etc. in it. I made each girl a heart shaped cake that they could eat or take home. I did them in stars with a rose bud in pink or lavender on each. They each came dressed as a princess. Except the one girl who came as a zebra. LOL She didn't do the princess thing. DD said it was fine. LOL

I threw a tea party baby shower once, and it was for adults, but it could be easily modified for little ones. I started collecting different teacup/saucers from ebay. Since they were only one teacup being sold (instead of a set), I got them really cheap. I filled each teacup with water and put a fully opened rose in each one. These were really cute for a centerpiece.
I also happened to find some journals with teacups on them at the Dollar Tree and I gave them as party favors. I asked everyone to wear pink, and took a picture of everyone together.
Hope this is helpful.

My DD has a friend like that...when they were little and played dress-up, her friend was always the royal "pet". She was big into animals.
Make some basic sandwiches, they're not all into cucumber at that age. Strawberry cream cheese or plain on raisin bread is great, or just plain cheese. Most like peanut butter but then there's possible allergies. Cut into cute shapes. Garnish with slices of strawberries. Make fruit kabobs. It's all about the presentation. There's a great story book, out of print now, but if you can get it.....Arianna and the Strawberry Tea is a cute story to read. That or "Fancy Nancy". Tea bingo is a lot of fun too. Oh, and sugar cubes....must have sugar cubes.
