Yeah! I am so excited! I finally got the free mag in my mailbox. So many people had talked about already gettnig theirs I thought for sure that I didn't get in. My hubby held it up like, what is this? Did you subscribe to ANOTHER magazine??? Then I saw what it was and was all woo-hoo :o
I actually had submitted for III, but I think I must have missed the deadline because they saved them and put them in IV (only 2...and not the best of the bunch IMO).
I really wish I could figure out exactly what they are looking for...some of their choices (at least from my pile) really were strange!
So now I have the batch for V all ready to go...deadline looming 5/1/05.
I can't remember, the two cards they chose were not my best by any means...I just don't "get it" as far as what they are putting in there! I had such great ones... still it is fun getting a free mag!
Vegaswife,
It really isn't a free magazine; what she received was a complimentary copy because the publication used a couple of her cards in the magazine...
Take Ten 4 is a special publication put out by Stamper's Sampler a couple of times a year. This mag features cards that can be made in ten minutes or less - hence the name, Take Ten. Since there have been 3 other issues of this, the current mag is called Take Ten IV.
It is a wonderful magazine (though not free - it costs $14.95, I believe) and is well worth getting just to see all the SU samples, if nothing else.
Hope this clears up the confusion.

Congrats on getting published!! Proves that you should always submit even the stuff that you think won't make it... I guess they have their reasons, but I agree with you, sometimes, it makes you wonder why some cards have been overlooked...
How do I get one of magazines.is there a site to go to.what is it.

I ordered a magazine the other day. Can't wait to get it now.I hope I don't have to wait until the next issue comes out at the end of the year.I hear there pretty scarce.

Well, I would certainly think that they've upped the printing amount since the first 2 issues. The demand certainly warranted it...even grocery stores are starting to carry this.
I also got published in take ten, one of my cards are on the cover. It is a Su flower. I also wonder how they pick what they put in I sent a a lot and got 4 in. I think sometimes they select cards from certain people to put in like their guest artist from Stampers Sampler.

BIG congrats to you! I need to check out the cover closely now!!

Maybe they think some of the cards would take longer then 10 minutes? maybe they are being held for other publicatins by Stamper's Sampler?
Congrats to all of you in this one!

Has anyone noticed that all of the pages in Take Ten are color-coordinated? I really do think that they have big bins of cards sorted by color and, when they need a card with red for a particular page, they go to the "red" bin! LOL
This seems to be the most logical reason for why some cards are published while other, better cards, are not.
I'm with you, Stampin4Fun -- I, too, noticed how carefully the colors of the cards are cooridinated to look like they were all made just for that page...which would explain why several of mine didn't make the magazine
The ones of mine that did make the "cut" just happened to be in colors and have a theme that went with some other cards....hmmmmmm.
I'm getting cards ready to submit for Vol 5 (cut off is May 1st for general cards and April 15th for challenge cards). I have been thinking long and hard about what colors to use to make it more likely that they will be chosen, which means they will be looking for something entirely different than what I end up sending!
I'm hopng some of my rejects from Vol 4 get picked up for one of their other publications (I now lust after complimentary copies of mags!)
What color combos do you think will be "hot" for Vol 5?
Susy
I was in there too - the first time for me! It was such a shocker to get it in the mail like that, too cool! :o) Congrats to all others who made it in!

Well, I'm not as famous as the front cover LOL, but they found rooom for me on 112, bottom left corner. I had forgotten all about this card, as it was done last year, so it was a pleasant surprise to get it in my mailbox.
I have been checking Borders and the craft stores every couple of days for the past couple of weeks. I haven't seen even one copy! Are they in the store yet?
I have had one card published in the Take Ten section of the magazine and I have yet to understand what they are looking for. I had sent in two Christmas cards and the other was my favorite and they didnt pick it. I also have not had anything published in the Take Ten magazine although I have sent in about ten cards. Perhaps it is the "color" thing. Who knows? This last issue had a lot of strange stuff in it, IMHO. It is fun to have your stuff published and I have had several Inklings published in the Scrap & Stamp magazine which they pay ten dollars each for. That is really nice and helps the mag bills. I have to say SCS is the best place I have seen for help and card ideas. BTW, I have joined the fan club and it has been the best $20 I have spent. Kudos to all of you who keep this going and for the updating, etc.

I, too, wonder what they are looking for. I didn't submit any this time but did for TTIII and didn't get in. I really question if some of those cards can be made in 10 minutes. I know I couldn't. Perhaps if I practiced for several times, I might get it down to 10 min :>)
Wanda,
You're absolutely right absolutely right to question whether many of the cards in the Take Ten issues could be done in 10 min....who are we kidding?!
To be honest, it takes me 10 min to just move stuff around on my tables to find a nice spot to work It's a good thing that FlyLady says set the timer for 15 minutes -- that way after futsing, I have 5 min to work on the card before the timer goes off!
Another goal I have for some of my Take Ten 5 submissions will be to make a card that honestly takes 10 min or less....the results may not be to my liking, but if I get lucky and choose the colors they're looking for, my chance for a comp copy of the mag rises exponentially.

Congratulations to all of you published girls! You rock stars!! I checked with my local Barnes & Noble, and they said it would be available April 1. I haven't checked Borders yet. They do go fast, so if you see one, snatch it up! Angie
I checked my Barnes and Noble last week w/ no luck, but it was there today. Att he bottom of the craft section but front row. Sooo many beautiful cards, have to look up each one of you!! Congrats!!
