i am actually making them as i type this i am making candy bar wrappers that have my DD name on the front and on the back ingredates (sp) kinda like take 1 beautiful girl 100% princess 100% loving 100% and then i out made from love 100% you get the drift i will post them when i have all 150 done her party is in December...We are also making her invites black card stock rose color vellum then embossing roses in Silver.. She too has that super party and i have a walmart purse..GL with planning your party.
My little sister just had hers in March. She did a "Pretty In Pink" theme, after the '80s movie. They asked everyone to dress up in '80s clothes (funny, considering she was born in '91!), and kept the decorations simple and pink. kOur mom things the 16th birthday is a huge deal, and she made a huge, 2-tiered cake and decorated it with pink roses all over. I don't think there were any favors, just lots of snacks and drinks, plus they had it at the local rec center so there was plenty of room for games and dancing (think mixed cds!). I realize that didn't have much to do with stamping, but I was trying to pass on ways to get a theme across without spending like crazy!
One of my favorite party goodies is to burn a custom CD with her favorite songs and make a copy for each guest. You can do a pretty holder with her photo and party "theme".... my neighbor does one for her kids every birthday and they are always well received!

Hello-
I helped a friend last year w/her dd sweet 16. I made table decortations with pint size clean paint cans...cheap with d.p and put baby pictures on them we also filled them with candy and you can tie on balloons. This is pretty cheap you can get the paper to go with the theme. My neice wanted a picnic..and her mom is cheap! so we got picnic baskets and had deli meat sandwiches and all types of salad. I also did the pint size cans for her. She kept them and uses them to hold her junk! You can also make a gallon size can for the main table that matches her colors. hope this helps a bit!
If you pick a theme such as "fifties" or "eighties" party it will be much easier on your budget--and much cuter, I think. I really think girls at that age are satisfied with something like a cd with top songs burned on it--and maybe a votive candle or some other such low-cost item.
The candy bar wrappers are inexpensive and would make cute invitations (I did them as part of teacher gifts this year, "Sweet Sixteen" instead of "sweet summer" for you--
the other nice thing about kids this age is that they are so satisfied ( I think!) with chips/hot dogs/sodas/cake. If you have a Sam's Club membership (or a friend who has one) the hotdog prices are unbeatable--same for chips/soda/buns.
We even got a double layer cookie cake there for $12 and it was huge.
My daughter is 17. Her group of friends makes special CDs for all kinds of occasions-summer, homecoming, Christmas--so the CD idea certainly has my vote. If they keep the CDs (and it appears my daughter has them all still!) they will be a great reminder of the times as each CD has a sampling of the music that is popular at the time. How much fun would it be to pull these out at their 25th reunion?!

My kids have tired of pizza, hamburgers, and hot dogs at gatherings so we have started serving "walking tacos" at our house for teen events. Make a huge batch of taco meat (I keep mine warm in a crockpot), have on hand individual bags of Doritos and Fritos, shredded lettuce, salsa, cheese--anything you would put on a taco. To serve crunch the chips slightly (still in the bag), open the bag, spoon in taco meat and toppings, add a fork/spoon and you have a taco you can be on the go with. They have een a huge hit.
Dear Friends:
I am so overwhelmed and touched by all the responses to my cry for help! This is certainly a wonderful community. The spirit is willing, but the pocketbook is weak! But thanks to you, now I have inexpensive choices from party to favors. Thanks to all, again!

Hey!
The party will be next July! My next task will be to find a place to have it, like a Community Center. I'm anxious thinking about it. Already I bought a photo album.
LORD HAVE MERCY ON MY POOR, POOR SOUL....AND POCKETBOOK!
a slide show of photos of daughter as young child/ and with photos of friends,
put to music! there are software you can use to make awesome slideshows!
then everyone can have one to go home w/ them. Cover of dvd can be group photo of dd and friends!
Menu: dd's favorite foods.
Color theme: her favorite colors.
Dear Gail:
Thanks for your idea. I do have software for slidemaking and have two credits to my name already ! Your idea is just ingenious! Thanks so much!

if you are also going to have photo album,
take ind. polaroid photos (or use digital camera) of dd and friends, then can add to ONE page, have her friend write a congratulatory/best wishes message on that one page. One page has dd w/ friend or family member, and one msg. at graduation party, a friend used a matching album, and scrapping paper (8x8 dcwv scrap pack); friend can also choose the paper they would want to write message on. then album will be finished almost instantly on the spot. if you are using digital camera, adhere photo mat onto the scrap papes before hand, so the well-wisher will know where to write the personal message. Diecut w/ a view has many theme papers in one giant pad, so you can pick the color theme/family you want. Pink and black are trendy colors now. pink/brown is good too. however, i know NOT all girls like pink, so pick her fave two colors and run w/ that color theme!
My cousin went literal with the sweet theme and had a candy themed party... Centerpieces, decorations, and favors all in one. Candy bars taped to skewers and stuck in the centerpieces, with a big 16 in the middle of each one (I cut those out for her on my wishblade) then smaller candy sprinkled on the tables.
