Howdy! I'm a new demo and am starting a stamp club this Friday at my ole' abode. One of my gals has asked me if we can do a "Suspension Card" sometime. Nothing like feeling like a dimrod right off the bat! LOL What in tarnation is a suspension card???

I did a search in the forums for "suspension" and found this thread. There is a link on the thread that gives directions. Looks pretty cool!

I had never heard of these before either! These cards are sooo cool! I think I should try making one for my nephew's birthday! Thanks for the link!

Cool Cool Idea

I am in the process of making one as a Halloween/anniversary card (yep, they got married on Halloween, their fave holiday!). It will have a spider web in the back, pumpkins, witches etc. decorating the outside and inside, and a diecut spider wound up and suspended to unwind when they open the card! The other one I made had flowers and a suspended butterfly!

I like to call them string spinners myself. Here is one I did for a class. One word of advice, make sure you cut your string extra long, it makes it easier to tie. Oh, and most don't do it the way I did, but I like to wrap the string around the eyelets before they are flattened. That way you can wind up the center object and when the person opens the card it will spin. If you just use glue dots or another adhesive to hold the string in place, the receiver can spin the object on their own, but it will not have quite the same effect. I guess thats why others call them suspension cards, because the piece is just ment to suspend in air, while mine actually spins when they open the card.

Now that's cool. So your 'suspension' is in the front of the card, and not an extra layer in the middle. Looks like I'll be stamping this weekend
