UPS says mine just arrived in Kansas. Should be here Monday or Tuesday. The excitement wore off a little until I looked at the 2008 catalog and got excited again!!:!: (and when i see the box i will probaby get excited again, lol).
I ordered the $15 one and liked what I got. Today I ordered the $5 & 10 ones. Cannot wait to see what I get in them.
How fun!!! I figured they'd probably be pretty good. I think everything SU! makes is good quality so I don't think you can go wrong (of course, unless you get rub ons, ha ha!).
It is the $5.00 grab bag and it looks like elements from an old Simply Sent kit...(I am not that familiar with SU products so I am not sure which set this stuff is from and I apologize if somebody already posted the same thing......)
My kit looks like it was a christmas-theme...
9 sheets total of 8.5x11 cardstock-
3 sheets each of an olve green, a red, and a kraft color
blue gingham 1/4" ribbon wrapped around a piece of carboard, did not open it but it looks like about a yard
a bright/lime green grosgrain 1/4" ribbon--also wrapped around cardboard and looks to be about a yard
turquoise grosgrain 1/4" ribbon-- "" "" "" "" also looks to be about a yard
a second wrapping of the bright/lime green 1/4" grosgrain ribbon--looks like another yard, wrapped around the cardboard
5 folded cards in rose red (guessing it is rose-red, it had a hint of pink where the 8.5x11 sheets are more of a true red)
5 folded cards in the bright/lime green
10 white envelopes
a few random scrap pieces in about 2x3 turquoise, 1.5x2 white, and 4x3 lime green color (again these sizes are estimates as it is getting late here and I am too lazy to go dig out my ruler...:p )
1 sheet Christmas theme-die cuts

Wow, that seems like a lot of stuff for the $5.00 bag. Mine should be here today or tomorrow. I really liked the stamp that coordinated with the Christmas stickers. It was a little winter cottage. Always wished I'd gotten it and I look for it on BST forum!
I ordered the $10.00 bag. I don't think those stickers are in that bag. I'll be excited to see what I get!

I got my $10 bag yesterday. It had 10 sheets of double sided 12x12 paper. and 10 sheets of stickers that matched the paper. The paper is blues and greens and flowers. I love it!Some buttons. 5 cards plus envelopes. Several packages of smaller cuts of cardstock.Several packages of ribbon(about a yard). One sheet of 8X12 double sided cardstock. Some brads. I was very pleased! I have already made some cards.
Mine had four card kits in it basically. I lucked out and got a whole pack of one of my favorite Simply Sent kits of all time, Gratitude. I was very happy to have all that pre-cut cardstock, pre-scored and folded with envelopes and everything--when you're a demo no one ever does that for you anymore and it's like a treat! : )
I'm going to order some more as I hear some people have gotten packs of the Flower Fusions felt flowers that I just LOVED. I'm a gamblin' girl : )

I guess that I am the only one that is disappointed. I ordered $15.00 kit and received one $5.00 and one $10.00. The $5.00 one had
10 4 X 8 sheets of card stock folded
10 4 x 4 envelopes
10 4 x 2 1/2 sheets card stock
about 15 smaller pieces of cardstock
5 small silver brads
2 pieces of 2 yards of ribbon

I received the same $5 grab bag. Everything in it was just what you got.
I the $10 part of my $15 "surprise", I got this:
4 12" strips EA. green and cream grosgrain ribbon
12 pieces of cotton binding tape
teeny rust and white grosgrain ribbon on a cardboard
mllions of thin felt like flowers, various sizes (green, orange, pink)
small blue and black/white check ribbon
10 purple brads
3 chalks, applicators and a blendy thing
chipboard with 8 flowers cut
4 12x12 decorative paper doll type papers (everything is perforated)
8x10 sheet of perforated shapes
12 small envelope
12 small fold over cards
small scraps cut neatly to fit these cards in some random pattern I guess
I think for the money, it's worth it. I definitely wouldn't have bought this stuff individually but all in all, it is exactly what it was advertising: Grab Bag!
I was actually a little disappointed with what I got, because it said in the website that you're supposed to get $60 worth of stuff for $15. I guess for the price that I paid, what I received would be just right. But I was actually expecting more because of the $60 catch phrase.
I ordered 2 iof the $15 and got both the same, alot of Christmas stuff, not to much in variety. I don't think I would do again. I thought there would be more of a variety so I could do many different cards or even use in scrapbooking but like I said mostly Christmas papers, some ribbon, a few brown brads, nothing that I was wow about. No buttons and no stickers, no flowers, alot of paper elements. Sounds like some people got some great stuff though.

I completely agree - mine had 3 sets of cards, brads, ribbon and stickers. NO cardstock, DSP, the ribbon was not on the roll but 3 pieces of ribbon in a ziploc bag and the 10 brads in a bag.
NOT worth the $18 (the $15 bag in Canada went for $1. I do not believe the price of $60 worth of items. I would not order again!

This would have been my dream package! I really had wished for paper!
posted on another thread, then found this one. Not sure where to go, but want to share:
I am less than impressed with what I received. Several years ago, they had a promo if I recall for $400 hostess. It came with discontinued product BUT it was packs of cardstock, spools of ribbon, ink pad, marker. I ordered 4 of the $10, one of the $5 ones. the four had the bulk buy sunshine (already threw them in a box and don't want to go upstairs for them). Bits and pieces of cardstock squares, strips of ribbon a couple of buttons. NOTHING matched and CERTAINLY not worth the money claimed. This was a very BIG disappointment, certainly not the typical top shelf business practices SU prides itself on. I love a deal, I love a surprise, but I must be candid, and this was not worth the money invested. I much rather have spent the $45 on product that was 'whole' and able to complete a project. Everything is just a 'part' of a project, everything needs to be supplemented with other product. My way of thinking is needy, not greedy, but this disappointed me. Hope others are happier with their bags. I would NOT do this again.
Stay well,
AnnMarie
Wow, you guys got some nice things! I ordered a $15 and received a $5 and $10. Mine was paper scraps, odd size non-mailable cards & envelopes, gingham ribbon, a couple chalk refills, bits of buttons and brads, 4 sheets of princess/knight/castle diecuts, the olive/pink/orange flower fusion. No way it is worth $60, a quick calculation doesn't even get to $20. NOTHING MATCHES AT ALL except the card/envelope. Have to hope they work with some current colors. Regarding the scraps I don't even save pieces that small!!
There is NO WAY this is worth $60.00:
5 sheets of cardstock
5 sheets of stickers
10 cards
10 envelopes
10 brown brads
10 strips of precut ribbon
Sure, its a grab bag so you take a chance on the contents. Thats not the point. I feel like such a fool. Did I get my $15.00 worth? Yes. Did I get $60.00 worth of product NO! I dont care how you SU demos try to spin it and Im sure about ten will come running in any minute to try to defend SU. (Dont want to hear it). I have a feeling for every 1 person who is happy with their bag, there are 25 who are NOT happy.
I think SU should be ashamed of themselves. If I were a first time customer I would never order from them again.
What I basically got were two Simply Card Kits from the 2008 catalog. I looked them up and new they cost about $22.00 each. So I received approximately $44.00 worth of materials. BACK in 2008 that is. So these kits appreciated by ten dollars a piece over the last three years? The stickers dont even stick. (And I wasted money on postage for this??). Live and learn I guess.
What goes around, comes around. Very bad Karma for SU. Ripping off people who keep her whole family in nice cars, homes, and clothes. How many of your children have we (the customer) put through college?
When I look thru my items and guess what I will/can use, it is basically the 9 sheets of cardstock and the 10 pre-folded cards...although I *did* just stock up on the rose red just a couple of weeks ago, lol...so now I've got rose-red coming out the wazoo......lol....
the certainly celery, wow, I do not remember it being this bright....? I am sure it is, I guess I just never realized it was brighter than I had thought....
I looked at it is a fun thing, a one-time deal, and that is all.....
When I weigh what I 'might' use and what the kit actually DOES contain vs what SU says the kit is worth, hmm..is it worth $20 for what basically is 14 sheets of cardstock and 4 small strips of pre-cut ribbon..? don't think so.......and even when you factor in the envelopes and the few tiny scraps of cs, and one sheet of adhesive stickers that have lost their adhesion 'probably' still would not bring it to $20.00.....
Disappointed...? maybe a little....
Would I do it again...? Doubt it...
Will I ever use this stuff...? again I doubt it, especially bc I just stocked up on rose-red...lol :p tooo funny....:p lol......
But I look at it as a one-time deal and my whole purpose was just to have fun with it...I guess once some others started the calculations maybe it opened my eyes a little....
Personally I think SU would have benefitted more from this by donating it to their top demo's or starting demo's to give to new customers to get acuainted with the product......
I didnt order one and definitely will not now. Today is the first time I read this thread. It kinda sounds to me like the bags started off pretty nice and as more of them were ordered they got skimpier to cover more orders.
I thought they were fun! I plan on using them to make the cards just like the simply sent kit samples.
Does anyone want to sell parts or all of theirs? If so, we could start a thread about it???
Glad you liked yours...mine was okay...I may or may not use the cardstock but I looked at it as a one-time deal.....
I'm not sure the shipping would be worth shipping off the few odds and ends....?
Like on my kit other than the few sheets of cs, the only thing would be the tiny scrap pieces of cs, the bits of ribbon, the envelopes, and the dried-up stickers...not sure they would be worth the shipping fees...?

Just my opinon.

I agree, Good thing I came across this thread. Thanks Ladies its been very helpful
I'm with those that are disappointed. I ordered a $15 grab bag with an advertised value of $60 in product. No freeken way were those scraps of paper worth $60. I got a package of felt flowers, a tiny tub of glitter, a couple of buttons, the rest was scraps of ribbon and paper. I have enough scraps on my own.
I did send SU an e-mail. I got a canned response that my e-mail would be forwarded on internally. That was about 10 days ago. Nothing since then.
I really love SU product, but this grab bag deal was a rip off.
I am another one who was not happy - I bought the $15.00 bag. Did I get $15.00 worth - probably- but there was NO way there was anything near $60.00 worth in the bag. I did it for fun and love the anticipation and excitement waiting to see what is in the bag. Would I do it again - not from Stampin Up. Was it a fantastic money maker for SU and a way for them to get rid of everything they couldn't sell - it sure was.
Yes, I was very dissapointed also. There is no way anything was worth what they claimed and paying the $5, $10 or $15 was stretching it to. What am I going to do with 10 self-adhesive die cut sheets that are all the same! (talk about repetition in your layouts) I ordered one of each with much anticipation, but was seriously let down. Would have prefered full sheets of cardstock instead of a bunch of cut up scraps. I have enough scraps already. Oh well, not sure I would do it again.
I had fun playing with 2 of the bags I received. I posted some pictures on the other thread but here they are again in case you missed them. The minialbum I made at a crop with 1 sheet of the die cuts and a sheet of the designer paper from the $10 bag. I just added some 12x12 cardstock and some of the clearance rack saffron ribbon. And I have lots more from that bag left for other projects. The last picture is 25 cards that I made from the $5 kit. The only consumable I added there was some of the leftover die cuts from the mini album. I haven't tried my $15 bag yet. I might save it for the next crop I attend. More details are on my blog if you are interested.

Daisy,
Could you please download a picture of pages 176 & 177 from the 2008 catalog? I still have NO idea what to do with these scraps! The longer I look at them, the smaller they become!
does anyone else have any photos of the stuff you made with these grab bags? I am just scratching my head over this, coming up with ZERO!

sorry, i don't know how to copy just those pages, but here is the whole catalog. i'm afraid you aren't going to be very impressed with the cards, they are super basic and plain and not very artistic or interesting.
i like the way su says: adhesive die cut shapes instead of "stickers". i guess die cut shapes sound more sophisticated than stickers.
I think they went with that name because they are heavier than stickers and repositionable for a while (and yes sounds better
They just posted some instructions from some of the old kits to use for ideas. I added them to the Downloads forum here: Simply Sent instructions for grab bags by craftdoc at Splitcoaststampers
