This will be big news to some folks. SU Demos can now talk about other products (including linking) on blogs etc. They just can't actually sell competing products (directly or by receiving compensation for tutorials etc.) SU has listened to the many complaints and revised this policy to be much less restrictive.
I think this is one of the reasons I love SU!!!! I LOVE being a demo!!!! and I think it opens the door for more demos that were on the fence before or for more hobby demos!
A very wise choice. Although I think a lot of very business-minded demos will choose to still not link other companies because they don't want to promote competition, I suspect that even they would appreciate the freedom to make exceptions.
Very few people craft or stamp in a vacuum, limited to one company. By changing this rule, I think Stampin' Up shows that they are confident that their products can stand on their own merits even where other companies are mentioned. And I bet some customers will appreciate their demos even more for sharing their knowledge of other companies' products as well.
I dropped my (hobby) demo-ship when SU! placed those heavy restrictions when it came to even mentioning competing products on our blogs and email correspondence. I knew that I could not honor that clause in the revised IDA so it was better for me to drop out. There were a few times when I thought about signing up again, but then I remembered why I dropped out.
Now I no longer have an excuse! Maybe I'll re-join when SU! offers a really good deal for new demos
Kudos to SU for this decision!
There may be times when showing SU things side by side with other brands people will realize SU is better. IF a demo had an exceptionally large party and had to add a few acrylic stamp mounts from another company people would see how great the SU stamp mounts really are .

One can't help but feel badly for so many of those wonderfully creative & well known demos who had to make the heart wrenching decision to stay or leave when the policy was announced. Now it's "Never Mind."

Ain't that the truth! I have a couple of those mounts from a big box store in my closet. I keep them just to sow others how I wasted my money. Oh the stamp cleaner scrubber thing was another joke - half the size, half the bristles = gigantic waste of $$$
I get a kick out of some of the products sold by SU that are made by other companies (Zig 2-way glue, sticky strip, glue dots, just to name a few), but the demos could only use the products with the SU label on them. Then again, I noticed alot of demos use glue dots but you never actually see the box.
My question: Will SU change their policy again in the future and is this just a marketing ploy to get demos back in the fold?
A few years ago, I made this comment to my demo about the In Colors: This is an interesting way to test market new colors. She laughed.
Look how many former In Colors are part of the new color groups!
I really like the SU clear mount stamps, but I laughed when they came out with the photopolymer stamps. Nothing new in that product. I haven't seen a photopolymer stamp set of theirs that I would spend money on and I think I'll stick to CTMH and other companies that have been selling them for a while!
I always thought that if I took my 40% off coupon to M's and bought zig or mono or used ATG it just left me with more money to buy SU stamps and paper. I'm glad to see they changed the policy.

I always do that! I don't like my ATG though. I love Glue Runner Pro. It sticks like crazy, NEVER gums up in the dispenser. Plus I don't have to push a trigger and release it. It's also a better size for my hand.
