I am sure they got it all ready for the new catalog not much sense in updating it now when it will have to be changed in a couple weeks. I suppose they will update it to match the book or new colors or something.

Exactly so. All updates on the customer side will happen with the new catalog going live. If your demo has a SU website, keep an eye on that, as s/he may have updates for you!
Oh not trying to be sarcastic or anything, really I love SU, but what is the big deal with the Bigshot. It's been on the market for a long time. It can be purchased on ebay for a much better price than SU can sell it for. If you have the cuttlebug, you do not need the bigshot, etc. I am just very surprised that SU went with Sizzix on this when in reality the Big Shot is no longer the in tool. Most people either already have it, have the cuttlebug or have an electronic cutter. In fact, Provo Craft has just come out with a blade that cuts chipboard and also a stamp making and stencil making kit.

well, i don't know what's "in" or "out" but i'm sure the SU! deal has been in the works for a while, and they had to take a leap at some point.
i think what everyone is so excited about, and me included, is the idea of having dies that MATCH or COORDINATE with SU! stamp sets. how cool would that be?

i'm guessing you mean for the cricut? since the cuttlebug has been cutting chipboard for a while.

I, for one, don't have any machine at all. I never felt a need for one. I'm not sure I really NEED it now but lately, I felt myself admiring the embossing things. So, I'm excited about it. I could drive to Michael's or go on ebay. But, for me, as a demo, it makes more sense to take the plunge through SU. For one, I feel like I have more resources readily available through SU. If I buy it on ebay or at Michael's, I don't get ANY other benefits with it. ;) For those that have the machine already, the exclusive dies are a nice offering, in my opinion. As an aside, I for one don't want an electric machine. I work at my dining room table and it just isn't convenient to have cords stretching all over the place. ;) Either me or one of my kids (including the big 45 year old) could easily just not see it and bring the machine crashing. But, that's a story for another day.

so if SU comes out with embossing folders for the Big Shot I'll be able to use them in my cuttlebug?

Catalog is live August 11th for whoever asked that question.
The big deal about the machine is not the machine itself (not for me atleast) but the die cuts and possible embossing folders that go along with it! I'm SSSOOOOO Excited about that!!! I love using things like this and haven't been able to use them in my cards or scrapbook pages that I want to show to customers because I'd be promoting something that we don't sell which is against my demo agreement. Now I can use shapes and such that coordinate with stamp sets and show it to customers!
BUT Since SU! couldn't very well sell the dies without some way to USE them they had to also sell a die cut machine. I would like to think that SU! explored a lot of options before settling on this one.
TAC carried the Big shot/big kick (It's the same machine-just different colors and a different shape platform) for the past 3 years and opted not to carry it in the latest cattie. It's not like Ellison designed any exclusive dies or folders to go with it. But yes- it is cross compatible with the CuttleBug, sizzix, and the nestabilities dies.
I am sure that this is very happy news though to SU! demos who like to exclusively use only products that their company sells. I look forwards to seeing lots more samples in the gallery using the Big Shot Family of products from them!

I think the thing that's so exciting for us for this announcement is that there will be exclusive dies designed just for us.
I just bought the big shot (the cute black and pink one) and now I'm super excited that I can buy the dies from SU.
Even though I have a cuttlebug, I am so excited that they added this item. I love my bug, but now I will have dies and hopefully embossing folders that I can use at my stamp camps! Whether any of my group buys it or not, it opens a door that has been closed to demos to incorporate it into our projects and that is the best part for me. I will order one and will probably give my bug to my daughter who will absolutely love it.
I have a Big Kick and haven't been using it much lately so this is exciting news. I love the idea of dies that will coordinate with the SU stamps. Even though the Big Kick/Big Shot has been around for a while, I'm sure that the dies will be in demand! I'm looking forward to seeing what SU will offer for dies. Of course, you can get a Big Kick at ACMoore or Michael's or Joann's with a coupon and save money on that and still use the SU dies when they're available. I'm sure that SU is probably figuring that they will make money on the dies even if they don't sell thousands of the machines. And except for the super large dies that were sold exclusively by Sizzix for the Big Kick, all other dies can be used in an original Sizzix machine which some places are practically GIVING away these days. I still use my original Sizzix for nesties and if I'm just doing a quick, one die cut. No sandwiching involved.
You can see the Su Big Shot Dies in the Covention 08 Forum.
It's at the top of the Forums page.
There is a thread called - I Bought It.
Go to Post # 35 and she has a link to all of them.
Sorry, I don't know how to link.
