Default SU Ink Pad 'Bloom'

I was just wondering if anybody else has had a problem with their SU ink pads 'Blooming' after a long period of inactivity. I went to stamp some Real Red, and when I opened up the case, their were little bumps of ink all over the surface of the pad. I tried to 'spread' the bumps, but that seem to make the ink not stamp correctly. Has anyone else experienced this, if so what did you do.

MANY stampers had issues with the Real Red inkpad. Many of us had them replaced by SU last year.
We had issues of the ink turning really thick and gloppy on the pad. It sounds like this is what you have.
Also some of ours turned a goldish color on top.
I remember mine turned a thick red ink and it would not stamp right and then to clean it off my stamp was almost impossible. It was like a sticky thick goo.
Call SU and talk to them about or talk to your Demo.

I believe it has to do with the red ink formula. My Red StazOn pad did almost the same thing.

Didn't have this problem, but the last time I went to use Taken with Teal, it came out light blue.

You must have gotten the ink that was supposed to be in my Bashful Blue because it's always been a darker greenish color (not a light blue like it's supposed to be).

My Bravo Burgundy ink has always been a dark, yucky brown (never even close to the cardstock or ribbon, and my Real Red got all golden & lumpy, too, but I was told when I called (as a demo at the time) that it was too late to get a replacement and that my problem with the Real Red was the first time they had heard of it (eventhough I had been reading about that problem before I called).

I've read in lots of threads that red dye is a very unstable chemical. It's not just SU reds but red ink from many companies reacts weirdly (PTI cant sell a red ink in a spot because the ink formulation was cracking the tops!)
So now I always buy a reinker with my red pads....and expect it to have a bit of a shorter shelf life than other colours

I opened my burgundy ink pad today, and that's what has happened to it. Good thing I only use that color about once a year.

I've recently had this problem for the first time! My SU Basic Black had not been used for a VERY long time, because I just don't like how it tends to go purpley when it gets wet, even though it's supposed to be waterproof. So I use Craft Ink when it needs to be waterproof for coloring, and another brand when it doesn't. ANYWAY - yes, my daughter tried using it this week, and it had those little beads of ink on top. I think it's just from a long period of inactivity, and I don't know, maybe heat, cold and humidity affect it some, too. We just wiped the beads of ink off the surface with a tissue! It seems to work fine!

I too have had the "goldish" color on top, but until I read these posts, I never put it together that this only happened with my reddish or pink pads (rose romance, burgundy, etc). I usually re-ink and they seem to work ok.

Eww! I'm so glad I've never had that happen to my ink pads; I would get grossed out and have to throw them all away. Lol! My Bravo Burgundy is an ugly brown too but I never use it so I don't care. I've never had a problem with any of my other colors.

My Tempting Turquoise slides out of the case everytime I open it. Someone gave it to me and then I realized why! Lol!

This happened with my Real Red too. I thought it was because my Aunt had borrowed it, and mixed it up with a metallic stamp pad by mistake. It was a mess.

Same thing happened to my red ink pad (SU) and I threw it out and got a new one ... I thought maybe it was because I had it for a few years, but it's the only ink pad it happened too. Also my Staz-On red inkpad did the same thing. Gross.
