Well, I have yet to buy Bermuda Blue cs, ink, or reinker. I am now going to do so, or stock up on Taken With Teal. I love those colours. I may get both.
I love Green Galore and Gable Green with Turquoise. For boys, nothing else quite compares. I think I will get these but I am not 100% sure.
I was really upset about the Pixie Pink because I make cards for the children in Sunday school and the girls age 8 and under tend to love love bright/hot pink. Melon Mambo will cover that, however. I hadn't realized it was staying - I had just heard about Rich Razzleberry. I love that colour but it is not the same.
Glorious Green and Handsome Hunter I don't actually LIKE per se, but they were good for Christmas cards. The inclusion of of Wild Wasabi will solve that problem - it looks equally good with Eggplant and Burgandy. Still, I wish they had gotten rid of Garden Green and kept Hunter.
I am ok with losing Close to Cocoa now that I see the other new browns.
My biggest frustration is that while the new colours are great, some of the ones they left behind are blah and there are great In Colours they didn't bring in which would've been great substitutions for them, specifically:
*Purely Pomegranate for Rose Red. Richer colour, but similar enough to work. If there is some real need to keep the Rose Red, it could've replaced Bravo Burgandy, which is a very flat, dull colour, yet similar to PP.
*Crushed Curry for the blech More Mustard
*Kiwi Kiss for _____ . Not sure. I don't care. I just love it and want it back. I would lose Certainly Celery myself, because I love both Always Artichoke and Old Olive, and find CC boring. I think KK is a slightly richer version of CC. If I had to lose one of AA or OO, I think it would be the Artichoke.
*Vintage Violet for Elegant Eggplant. Again, a similar colour, but with more 'pop'
*Soft Sky or Cool Carribean for the very blah Bashful Blue
*Blue Bayou for Not Quite Navy. I hate NQN.
And again... get rid of the Real Red, which is covered via Riding Hood Red, and keep a bright green... either Gable or Galore. I just don't understand keeping the Tempting Turquoise (which I love, so I am not complaining) while getting rid of two of the colours that work the best with it, especially for boy cards.
Will miss: Handsome Hunter, Taken with Teal, Cameo Coral, Creamy Caramel, Mellow Moss. Initially felt sad about Ruby Red, but very glad to see Riding Hood Red coming back, and the Cherry Cobbler looks yummy, so that's a wash.
Overall, looking forward to new color choices and new combos. Change is inevitable, embrace it.
I categorized and compared the new and old collections (excluding neutrals) this way:
--------- New ---- Old
Reds ...... 3 ......... 2
Pinks ...... 5 ........ 5
Oranges ... 3 ........ 4
Peaches.... 0 ........ 2
(Coral/Blush)
Yellows .... 3 ........ 5
Greens ..... 5 ........ 10 (wow!)
Teal/Turq .. 1 ........ 2
Blues ........ 6 ........ 7
Purples ..... 3 ......... 7
(Couldn't categorize Bravo Burgundy, too brown to be a purple, LOL)
Taking out the browns (which were moved to the neutrals) they went from 45 colors to 30. That's a 33% reduction! Hmm, makes sense when you think of the economy and tightening your budget.
But... If I were Queen....
I don't see the need for so many Pinks! Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink and Rose Red - get rid of one. Would like to see a slightly peachy pink though, would have kept Coral but in a slightly paler hue.
Would have chosen Cool Caribbean over Tempting Turquoise and Baja Breeze.... and would have kept Teal!
Greens took a big hit, but there were far too many before ("Off with their heads!" said the queen). I think Handsome Hunter will be missed by the traditional Xmas color folks.
I feel for the purple people in my queendom, so I would appease the masses by giving them back one of them or maybe a new one... Pansy Purple! I would not keep Perfect Plum... passe.
Daffodil looks pretty, a nice blend of Yoyo and Sumer Sun (neither of which I used anyway). I liked Banana paper, but the ink never looked right.
That old nemesis Bravo Burgundy would most definitely be locked up in the deepest darkest dungeon. Go a bit darker on the Cherry Cobbler... Cranberry Cobbler.
Alas, I'm not queen, so I will learn to live with the choices available. I've always bought some non-SU papers that I liked and will continue to do so, but won't give up on the SU colors I like.

I plan to buy one more package of Orchid Opulence because that goes so well with the Rich Razzleberry and it is difficult to find that shade in another brand of CS.
I will miss a few of the colors, but I can't afford to stock up on CS & matching ink that I may or may not use.
I started a year ago and I didn't have any of the retired In Colors and I was able to make nice cards with colors that were available.
I figure if I can't get something then I will find something else that I like.
Will miss - Blush Blossom, Lovely Lilac, Almost Amethyst, Pixie Pink (I have an 8 year old DD!), rose red & Sage Shadow
Won't miss - any of the other brights or subtles to speak of
Excited about - Daffodil, Marina Mist
I, too, wonder why on earth they didn't bring back Cool Carribean. It is a lovely color! Mourning the loss of so many purples (and wondering WHY they kept the plum they did!) but I'm also excited about all the new possibilities.

It's funny - I never used to use Green Galore, but I just started using it because I found out it is perfect with Melon Mambo! So now Melon Mambo is staying and Green Galore is going. I will definately be stocking up on that one.
Summer Sun was my favorite yellow. I am hoping I will like the new daffodil color in person, but on screen I don't like it as well.
Other ones I will miss a lot: Mellow Moss, Brilliant Blue, Cameo Coral, Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa, Ballet Blue, Really Rust and Going Grey
Ones that I will kind of miss: Pale Plum, Lavendar Lace, Sage Shadow, Apricot Appeal, Pink Passion, Pixie Pink, Lovely Lilac, Glorious green, Bordering Blue, Brocade Blue, Taken with Teal and Handsome Hunter
I never got around to using Almost Amethyst, Barely Banana, Blush Blossom (I don't do people), Orchid Opulence, Gable Green, Yoyo Yellow and Only Orange so I won't miss them.
I did like Ruby Red, but I thought Riding Hood Red was similar but a little better, so I won't miss that one.
I also miss having a selection of purples. But trends with purples seem to change more rapidly than other colors do, so maybe SU is going to try to stay ontop of purple trends by having them more represented in the In Colors. At least that is what I am hoping for!
Well, I'm a red/green person so I'm happy that there are so many reds and greens coming. However, they're retiring MANY of my go to colors! Ugh! I guess I'll have to stock up on the paper and then when that's gone, switch brands. I've been meaning to anyway, it just seemed wasteful since I still have pads, paper, and reinkers. However, when those are done, they're done.
Here's what I'll miss - Creamy Caramel (I've used a ton of it), Close to Cocoa, Taken with Teal (I love my teals!), Pink Passion, Pixie Pink, Mellow Moss, Brocade Blue (I became hooked on it when I started stamping 10 years ago and only recently rediscovered my love for it), and Apricot Appeal. Apparently I was one of the few buying a lot of those colors!
I'm glad they're bringing back some of my favorite In Colors, though I'm not a Wild Wasabi fan. In fact, I told my demo that she can have my old pad (assuming I didn't already give it away) and reinker so she won't have to buy another one as she sold hers after it retired. However, Pink Pirouette and Riding Rood Red are some of my favorites. And River Rock, oh River Rock, how do I love thee? I stocked up on paper and have been carefully using it to make it last longer. So, I am glad it's coming back! That color is the color of bird dookie but it does go with everything.
I used to use a lot of Yoyo Yellow...about ten years ago. I think I've picked it up maybe once since. Summer Sun is a nice alternative for it, but I don't really like yellow. As for Gable Green, Glorious Green, Green Galore, Handsome Hunter, Barely Banana, Only Orange, Blush Blossom, Cameo Coral, Lavender Lace, and Lovely Lilac, don't let the door hit you on your rear end as you leave! I rarely reach for those and don't even have more than a few sheets of them left - left from when I ordered a multipack two years ago, which means I haven't used them.

I guess change is good. I am excited about many of the old In-Colors coming back. I wish Kiwi Kiss and Groovy Guava had been on the list....especially since they are taking away Cameo Coral.
It seems to me that many of the gray tone colors are going. I will miss Mellow Moss, Bordering Blue, and Sage Shadow very VERY much. :( And what about Going Gray? I like to watercolor landscapes, so I will miss the more natural colors.
Also many of the light colors such as Barely Banana and Blush Blossom are leaving. I will miss those for watercoloring.
Many of the the new colors look interesting to me, though. Cherry Cobbler looks like it will fill in nicely between Bravo Burgundy and Riding Hood Red. Marine Mist looks really pretty too...it's not as bright as Tempting Turquoise.
It does seem like a more 'girly' color collection, as someone else said. I hate that this change is coming during such hard economic times, too. But having said that, I'm sure I will scrimp and save to buy the new colors eventually.
I was so excited about the new colors that I cleaned out all my retiring colors already, inks included. I could do a happy dance for weeks to come now that Glorious Green is going away. I never used the purples. I may be ever so slightly sad to see close to cocoa go, but I'll get over it quickly....like now!
I am really excited that pink pirouette and riding hood red are coming back and I'm already in love with early expresso.
Someone said that they were leaving one color of marker (wasn't BB - I think it was Apricot Appeal??) specifically for watercoloring light skin tones. I wish they'd leave Almost Amethyst for shadows.

Apricot Appeal? Seriously? My pale skinned people would all look jaundiced! I typically use Blush Blossom or Creamy Caramel for people, or a combo of both. Soft Suede will work for darker skin, but for pale... hmmm... really not sure.

I have already boxed up most of my retiring colours for a garage sale this weekend. I am not a demo so I don't have to wait.
I kept Handsome Hunter - it is my Christmas greem. Also kept Taken with Teal because I have an irrational love for it, and Green Galore because I just can't decide.
I truly think I will be buying cs in Hunter, Teal, Gable and Galore Green, and one of the pinks.

They are keeping the blush blossom marker for coloring.
I am trying to decide if I should purchase the reinkers I don't have for the retiring colors. Will I regret not having them down the road??? Will they be available until the end of June or do they have a limited supply???
I think I will miss Close to Cocoa (doesn't look like anything close is replacing it for a light brown), Brillant Blue (I make lots of patriotic cards to send to deployed soldiers) and Real Rust.. however the new rust color might be a great replacement that I will be very happy with.. I do enjoy the earthy colors.

I will miss pale plum, the blues (use them to sponge sky scenes!) sage shadow, mellow moss, green galor and gable green, caramel and cocoa the most. I will miss blush for when I need flesh colors. I love summer sun, but daffodil looks pretty close to it. i like them bringing back wasabi and pink pirouette! I love those 2 colors, as well as riding hood red and pacific point. Marina mist and cheery cobbler and cajun craze are the new ones I would love to see in person.

Ohhhh, since they were from different years I hadn't thought to put these together. I bet they would be pretty, I love pink and green together!!!!
And I'm personally excited about the yellow, the daffolil color the most! It looks yummy!

Pardon the typos. My fingers were going faster than my brain!
At first, when I saw the long Fond Farewell list I was in shock. But then I realized that I don't use most of them, so I will survive! ;)
I will miss greatly:
Bordering Blue
Mellow Moss
Bordering Blue
Sage Shadow
Bordering Blue
Pale Plum,
Almost Amethyst (never used it until recently)
and have I mentioned Bordering Blue?? ;)
I am throwing a Bon Voyage Party for:
Glorious Green
Gable Green
Pink Passion (one of the few colors for which I do not own an ink pad)
Yo-Yo Yellow
Orchid Opulence
Apricot Appeal
Blush Blossom
Cameo Coral (loved it years ago..never use it now)
Ruby Red (loved it until Riding Hood Rd stepped it up!)
Creamy Caramel
Going Gray
I am THRILLED to see the return of Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red and Pacific Point...and ELATED that Rich Razzleberry is staying!!
I can't wait to see Daffodil Delight and Marina Mist...they look so fresh!

I'll be happy to see Green Galore go. I bought a pack of this 'cause it is my husband's favourite colour. I've never made anything pretty with it - they've all turned out to be hideous.
Also I won't miss Lavendar Lace - I also bought a pack of this 'cause I have soooooo many friends who actually (and unfortunately) like purple. I also have never made anything pretty with this colour.
Oh I love Lovely Lilac and Ballet Blue. I will have to stock up on them. I am excited to see Baja Blue returning even if I do have at least 5 packs of it. I loaded up on Baja and Sky Blue. I think Sky Blue is so beautiful. Maybe it will come back another year.
There were a few colors that I decided I would miss...so I kept them!
Apricot, Banana, Amethyst, Pale Plum, & Hunter.
I also decided that I love the In Colors too much...so I kept them too!
So...I have already pulled the retiring colors from my paper drawers and my stamp pad drawers. Still have to pull the reinkers and the ribbons and the embellies that match. I found paper packs that weren't even opened! I have packaged them up in color sets and plan to put them up for trade...so that I can get more of the colors I want.
And...I have made my paper drawers up into the new color groups already. I absolutely love the color groups! They are "go-juss"! I also took the other colors I wanted to hang onto and made two more color groups...one darker regal colors and one lighter subtle colors (including one color from the LAST retiring colors!). Wow! I found colors that go together so beautifully! Never would have tried it without the big jumble.
Now if I could just find time to get back to stamping...

Me too!!!!! I too love the way the colors look together too! The bights are my fave!
I can't believe they're keeping artichoke! That's the most butt ugly color ever!
LOL. I like the Always Artichoke ink; the paper, not so much.
I won't really miss any of the colors. I'm very, very excited about the new colors and for the returning In Colors. I'm looking forward to seeing how the new color collections work together.
And River Rock, oh River Rock, how do I love thee? I stocked up on paper and have been carefully using it to make it last longer. So, I am glad it's coming back!
Me, too! Me, too! Happy dance that River Rock is coming back.
The only color that really made me panic was Rust. How can I make fall cards without it??? Have to stock up. I think the updating is always neccessary but a little less more often would be better!!! I feel bad for the people who just bought the retiring pads and cs. Customers should have been informed months ago.
WoW...I just fond this thread by accident. I just finished my LARGE investment of acquiring the complete set of inks, paper, watercolor crayons, markers, Prisma colored pencils, sponges an daubers, for all the color groups, plus the storage for all the above. I wish that I had some inkling that there was soon going to be major change...
I would be lying if I said that I was not a bit upset over the thought of having to buy and further organize and re arrange all my work.
I wonder if the Very Vanilla, Whisper White, and black are going to be available in dye ink?
I guess this means having to buy a whole new marker set just to get the case with the colors listed on the side. (Unless they will sell/provide a paper insert to replace the old color scheme in the marker box Hint-Hint)
I guess buying whole set of new watercolor crayons since the groups are changed (these are not cheap...but I LOVE them!!!)
I may have to sway more toward Gina K Designs/ PaperTrey Ink for my staples if I have to re-invest.

Just my .02 cents,
Valerie
First off, I don't think it's possible to make dye ink in white and vanilla, it's has to be craft. Anyone else wanna chime in here?
Also, don't freak out too much too soon about buying replacements! SU has a sort of solution for that! They will offer kits for the "new colors" so you don't have to buy brand new sets of markers (I think it will come with a new insert), WWC and then kits of the ink pads too. It would really stink if they didn't do this, I agree!
It was a bit of a shock to say the least! I was mad and now I'm excited. You should check out some of the other forums about the color change, you will probably have a lot of questions and find a lot of answers in them! If you have more just ask, we are here to answer what we can! :-)

I've been using a ton of barely banana cs lately. It's so great with Kraft! - sad, will have to stock up. Looks like the new Dafodil color is too much like Saffron which I'm delighted to see is staying.
I will also miss, going grey, cameo coral and close to cocoa
I will miss pale plum, lavender lace, apricot, barely banana and close to cocoa. I will probably buy at least one pack of paper for the above. I will miss some of the blues and the pinks - but not enough to buy the paper - I can find enough options at Archivers in Bazzil or their brand to cover my needs. I just cant believe they have NO light purples. It just seems incomplete - that is really my only complaint. But I do not feel the need to buy every color - only the ones I like most.
I will most miss Taken with Teal. I stamp all of my cards on the back with a custom "made by" stamp with a ribbon so I'll have a teal ribbon for Ovarian Cancer awareness. :( I guess I will be buying a few reinkers, since I think I have 3 ink pads.
I haven't gone thru the list closely, but I am glad that SU is revamping colors and getting rid of some.

Although they aren't really mentioning Basic Brown. Just kind of letting it go.
I'm glad getting the few new colors will not be a huge expense, it's just a tremendous feeling of loss to lose so many colors!
