Default Storing rubber stamps in cardboard?

Can storing rubber stamps in a cardboard box lead to drying or degradation of the rubber?
Any thoughts are appreciated!

I have all my holiday wood stamps stored in paper photo boxes for years and they are fine.

Like Diane, I have stamps that have been stored in cardboard boxes for years and have had no issues - - except for a few loose stamps I had mounted on cling foam. I recently unpacked them after being stored for almost five years and noticed that several of had dents in the cling foam caused by the weight of the loose wood mount stamps they were boxed with. While the foam needs to be replaced, the rubber stamp itself is just fine.
