Default Storage Jars

Well, this is admittedly off topic. Since many of you are constantly on the search for good looking storage, I wonder if you have suggestions. I want to replace all my kitchen spice containers with identical wide-mouth jars that will store vertically in drawers (4" or less tall) and will be big enough to hold the standard spice jar's contents. And cheap! So far, Cost Plus has some cute ones for 99 cents each. The closest Walmart has are preserves jars, at about 93 cents each, but those have not very good looking two-piece lids that would need gluing. Watchmaker tins just look too small to me. I've seen containers at Ross and Costco, but they are either not wide mouth or not big enough.

Not sure exactly what you are looking for, but try Penzeys.com, they are a spice company, and they have empty containers in their catalog.

HTH

Don't know if this will help. i could have read it wrong since you mentioned storage jars and that got me excited thinking of my spice jars and that got me excited thinking of my PTI buttons and IKEA. doesn't take much to excite me, i guess. plus, i'm easily distracted. anyway, how about these?

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40064702

of course, then you'd have to live by an IKEA

Hobby Lobby had some cute small glass jars I bought for button storage. They have a clamp-down lid with a rubber gasket, so they are airtight. I believe they're $1.47, but they go on sale for 50% off quite often. I'm not sure how wide of a mouth you're looking for. These mouths are approximately 1.5" in diameter. The jars themselves are 3.5" tall and about 2.25" wide. HTH!

Try World Market. I use their jars to hold my home grown spices. They are inexpensive and come in a variety of sizes.

I bought 2 packs of the preserve jars at Walmart last night to hold the PTI buttons that are on their way to me as we speak! I chose them as they are 'short' and will stack on top of each other; not sure if they'd be the best option for spices though;

Hobby Lobby and Ikea are 100 miles from me; if I don't buy something now I'll remind myself to check them next trip there. Cost Plus and World Market are the same store, and they have the nicest option, but those Walmart preserve jars sure look sturdy and will hold a lot. I want something that allows a tablespoon to dip into. Why in the world should we be putting up with such narrow openings??? Same holds true for craft jars; you want to be able to reach in, not just have to pour out the contents always.
