ditto on the baby wipes. I always get ink on my fingers, forearms, etc. I don't even have kids, and I have a 'favorite' brand - just for stampin clean up.
What we aren't suppose to get ink all over our hands when we stamp? LOL. I keep diaper wipes on the table when I stamp, they work great and it is easier than running back and forth to the sink to wash up all the time. Another thing that I do is when I get a bunch of new stamps I stamp several images of each and store them away until I want to color and us them this way I don't have to bring out the ink pad for just one image and I can get messy without worring to much about it.
really like the idea of stamping a few images when you get a new set. Just think you can always grab a few and some markers and color while waiting for the doctor or riding in the car, or waiting for the stop light to turn green. lol Wait, can't do that. That's when I get to read. Oh well, you get the idea.

I use a wet cloth and baby wash. I'm frugal, lol. I feel your pain. All that ink on our nails! Oh, faint! ROFL. I have a pair of gardening gloves I keep in my stamping toolbox for days when I am going to do heavy stamping.
The only ink I have problems with seems to be my black ink. I prefer to use craft ink when I stamp my cards and I have to tell you I can really make a mess with it. I have to keep getting up to go wash my hands. After reading these posts I am starting to wonder why I didn't realize that I could use baby wipes. I'm going to say that my excuse is that my kids are 16 and 18 and so it has been a really long time since I have had to purchase baby wipes.
I just bought latex gloves-after 5 yrs of stamping.
Works like a charm!!!!

I also keep wipes right here. I use them to clean my stamps quickly between ink colors (before a big cleanup).
I wipe my hands with the wipes, then usually dry them on my pj pants (that I am undoubtedly wearing)...
I thought you are supposed to get ink on your hands, elbows, boobs...LOL.
I agree with Phantom, thank goodness for embellishments!
I'm another baby wipe user.
Ha ha ROTFLMBO! If I don't emerge covered in ink (including the boobs) with glitter in my eye and glue all over my finger tips then it wasn't a good stamping night for me! Sometimes I think that's just the way I have to be creative. Yea, I do mess up some great stuff though so maybe I'll try the baby wipes too! Will it be as fun??? Mebe... Mebe not!
I keep baby wipes and paper towels on my stamp table all the time. If the baby wipe is too wet, I dry my hands on the paper towel before picking up any paper or cardstock. Also helps to keep ink off my table if I accidentally drop the ink pad.
The reason I don't really use many of my stamps is because I always get ink on my fingers, which then gets smudged onto the card.
Any help?
I just made a wedding card and the inside is white, I was almost done and noticed ponmegranate ink on a corner. Now the card has a neat little corner motif on the inside! It was an embellishment opportunity. Luckily it went with the design.
Just get in the habit of putting away your ink pads as soon as you're done with it. That's what I always do and I rarely have ink smudge accidents. My ink pads are stored in an old fashioned cassette tape holder that I can easily reach from my chair, so I use it, then put it away before I reach for another or start working on the rest of the card.
I also make sure I have an absorbent surface underneath my work, I use a pad of newsprint. The extra cushion helps stamp a crisper image as well as absorbing excess ink. When it gets too messy, I tear off the top sheet of newsprint, and fresh clean one is right there to work on.
I wear a full body black apron. And just wipe my hands down the front.

My demo always kept a plastic coated paper dinner plate with damp paper towels folded in a square that covered most of the plate on top of it. When done stamping an image, stamp off the ink on scrap paper and place the stamp face down on the damp paper plates. That way no stray ink from stamps facing up and you can use the stamp again if you want, or else cleaning up the stamp is way easy. I pretty much get ink on me from opening or closing the SU stamp pads. Still don't care for the design of flip over lids, but... I just use damp paper towels to clean off my fingers as I go.

Oh, I like that idea! I find that when I try and be good by cleaning the stamp right after I use it, I always make a mistake and end up needing to stamp it again.

It's the PTI Palette Fresh Snow ink cube that gets me every time-I cannot get that thing open without incident!
Baby wipes! And I always wear my oldest jeans and a "stampin' Tee" that is a warrior from all my stamp campaigns! I have a craft inkpad from Stampin Up! with whom I share a love/hate relationship. It gets stuck more often than not...no matter how careful I am. Unfortunately, it's RED...Real Red. The first time I fought with it, it looked like I'd slaughtered a pig...LOL. That's when I became a baby wiper!

I keep baby wipes handy at all times. I also fold back the lids on the ink pads. My friend got me a rubber stamp with an ink saying on it. I HAVE INK ON MY FINGERS AND GLITTER IN MY HAIR.BUT,,, I'M A RUBBER STAMPER SO I DON'T CARE. I had to laugh when she gave it to me.

I also have a problem with the newer design ink pads from Stampin Up. I ALWAYS get ink on my fingers when I open one.
I also use damp paper towels to clean myself up. They eventually dry and you can reuse. Baby wipes dry out in the box faster than I use them.
If you do not want to get full of ink or make smudges, take your time (Ya Ya Ya). I remember, when I first started stamping, making a card in a hurry, dropped it in the ink, finger smudges all over for "embellishment opportunities", had to turn the main square over 'cause I goofed, etc, etc. Sent it out anyway to a stamping friend with a list DON'TS on the back. She loved it and still has it.
And don't forget when you work with distressing your cards or images. Can't tell you how many backs of my cards are also distresssed because I forgot to clean my craft sheet before I placed it back down. I now use a 5 x 7 acrylic frame and my card along with my embellishments go in this frame while I'm working on the card. Works great for me. I use the baby wipes too, but I also have a hand towel hand tied to my bar under my table for quick hands clean up and for cleaning my stamps too. My cleaning pad for stamps sometimes has a little too much cleaner and I dab it off with my towel. After a year or so I just toss it and start a new one.

Wonder if someone will "remarket" the baby wipes as "Stamping wipes" and charge 3 times the price for them LOL, also Baby Wipes are great for picking up the stray little bits of glitter on the table too ;)

I too, try to put the covers on my pads asap and use the newsprint pad that can be purchased at Michaels or JoAnns and this generally works great. I keep a hand towel on my lap in case I need to wipe off my fingers in a hurry. If I could have two wishes, I'd want world peace and no smudges on my cards. LOL!!!
I'm surprised no one has put stamping wipes on the market. I buy more baby wipes now than I did when my kids were little. Between my stamping and a son in Iraq I should buy some stock. I usually buy the 3 pack at Wal-mart. I save a lot doing it this way.
