I just bought a personlised stamp for the back of my cards. It has my name and email address on it. I usually stamp in a colour that co ordinates with the front of the card. But thinking sometimes its too much? So thinking of trying silver although I can not always get a great image with silver.
What do you do?
What colour do you use?
What does the back of your card look like?
Does it ever put people off buying them with an image on the back?
What about if you make wedding invitations, do you stamp those to?
And gifts?
If I am using a colored card base, I will quite often stamp in a darker tone of the color if I don't want it to stand out too much. Most of the time though, I just use black. I've never done wedding invitations for someone else, so can't tell you what I would do there.
Good questions... I'm making some cards to put in a basket to sell at my husbands office. I use mostly SU, so I need to put the copyright stamp on it - but I was also thinking of putting my email in case anyone wanted to get in touch for custom orders or something like that...(hey, I can dream can't I? ;-) I had planned on just doing black ink (unless it's dark cardstock, then white or silver, or a white tag).
I use versamark. Either that or the color of the cardbase. I don't like it to stand out too much, just have like an embossed look without embossing it.
I use the same colour as the cardbase, or Versamark (if I want it less noticeable). On white cards (don't have many of these), I'm like Heather, and use a colour I've already used on the front.
Since I use SU!, anytime I sell a card it needs to be stamped. I want it so that it can be seen - but not standout.
On the other hand, Hallmark cards are all printed in black on the back - and nobody complains about that, right?
I put my business name on the back of my cards and I stamp it in either silver or black, whichever seems best for the card. But I always include my full contact details on the packaging.
I do the same for individual wedding cards unless it's a special, large order for invitations etc. Then I ask my client whether they want my name on the cards. Some do, some don't. Either way, I still include my full details in with their order.
I do not stamp my cards with my name. I stamp them with a generic 'handmade' stamp and if I want to sign my name below that I can. I usually stamp the back with a color that matches the front of my card. If the color is too bold I will still use the color, but I will stamp off on a piece of scratch paper first and then stamp the back.
For example, if I'm making a red and white card with a white card base then I don't want to stamp that bright real red image on the back, so I'll ink up my stamp and then stamp once onto my scrap paper and then I'll stamp again onto the back side of my card. That way I can still use the color I want, but it won't be so bold and bright. If I end up using a colored card base then I will stamp 'handmade' with the same ink color as my card stock.
I just made a set of wedding invitations with response cards and thank you cards for my neighbor and I did not sign the back of them. To be honest, the thought really hadn't crossed my mind when I was making them.
I have a really cute stamp that I got at Walmart, of all places. It came in a pack with a "Thank You" stamp, and only cost $5. I bought it when I first started making cards, and I still love it.
It says "Handmade By" and there is a tiny flower above the script. I don't sell my cards, so I just sign my first name, Annette. I usually color in the tiny flower to coordinate with the card. I mostly make white card bases, so I use black ink.
It's a bonus for me that it says "Handmade" instead of "Hand Stamped" because I can also use it to make cute little hanging tags for other items I sew or crochet.

I stamp my personalized stamp in versamark and emboss with clear ep on every card. Most of my card bases are white, but I do it on my color bases, too. I just like the way it looks, probably cuz the stamp is round and pretty. And my friends always look for it, even tho they know it's from me since I just gave it to them!

thats a cool idea I will have to try that tomorrow, my stamp is round and 99% of my card bases are white! But my email is so small, wondering if you will be able to read it, I shall try!
I print a barcode font that spells my name onto the back of the cardstock before I make the card. I always use black ink. I just think it looks really neat, and I often stamp a very small image right above the "barcode" to tie in with the cards.

This was brought up in another thread awhile ago. I always put my mark on my cards. Most of my card bases are white so I use black ink. If the card base is dark or black I use white ink. I don't often sell my cards, but I did have one person ask me to not put my mark on the cards. I told them I charge double if I don't.
I made up a logo and saved it as a jpeg. I print it off on the back of my card prior to assembling it - I think it gives the card a nice professional look!
