a friend is interested in stamping on the wall with French script. No, I can't see it either, but she's a decoraing marvel and is case-ing something from Debbie Travis' Painted House. Which ink to use? or paint? I'm clueless! I think craft, but is that right? TIA!!
Julia-
SU does not recommend using inks to stamp on walls. I believe it has something to do with the image bleeding through if you ever repaint to cover it up in the future. Use acrylic paint (those little bottles) or regular wall paint (easy to coordinate colors). Stamping on walls is messy and tedious, but so very pretty when done. Good luck to your friend. Lynn
thanks so much, I didn't want to steer her wrong! I used acrylic paint myself (freehand) in a little bathroom in military housing--that last should tell you why it needed something, it was a horror story! I even painted the grout to make it look better. A friend covered hers with wallpaper, it was so disgusting.

I stamped my bathroom. It looks GREAT. The top 2/3 is painted butter yellow and the bottom 1/3 is like mellow moss. White chair rail to separate. I used the DD Daisy stamp. I used Acrylic paint. White Daisies with moss leaves and stems. I get so many compliments. The only problem - The bathroom has to be clean all of the time. People always want to see it.
I stamped my daughters' room with Bold Butterfly and Springtime Fun. I painted the lower one third of their room with a mellow moss color in a sorta "rolling hills" fashion. The upper third is in a ballet blue. In the sky are random scattered and minimal butterflies, on the green are random flowers and some "grass" applied with a nail cleaning brush. It looks terrific and was VERY easy. Much easier than I thought because we have fairly textured walls.
I used a paper plate and a folded up paper towel for each color. I applied a squirt of acrylic paint (I only use Delta Ceramcoat, I've found that Apple and Folkart acrylics aren't as good in my earlier crafting days). Spread the paint around to a thin larger area by folding your paper towel and squishing the paint out. Then apply stamp to paint, take a look at it to make sure there is not TOO much paint, and stamp to wall! I REALLY LOVE IT and plan to do it again in my bathroom as soon as Mixed Bouquet gets here!
As apposed to the stamp down and up like we do on paper, I found it easier to sort of set the bottom edge of the stamp on the wall and "roll" it on until it is all touching as which time I rocked it ever so gently and rolled it off the wall. That seemed to work very nicely and helped me line things up best. Keep a damp towel near because acrylics wipe right off if you need!
Please do tell, what do you do when you get to the corner and you only need half of your stamped image? I like the idea of stamping on walls but don't want it to look "boxed" in. There are so many threads on this subject, but I still haven't found the answer. :???:
Here's my suggestion for when you get to a corner (though it may not work with all images)
Mask off the edge of the last image you stamped with a piece of paper (typing paper would work - use painters tape so you don't ruin your base paint job). Then stamp your image with the side of the stamp right up against the wall. Part of the image will be stamped on the wall and part on the paper.
I stamped my kitchen with the DD Fresh Fruits - Pineapple stamp and my neighbor used Simply Circles in her children's bathroom and DD Daisy in her bathroom and we both used Craft Pads! They turned out beautiful!!!!
I stamped the walls of my front entry way with some leaf (non SU!) stamps... you know, the foam ones that you can get in the craft stores? I used latex paint and just dabbed it on with a foam paint brush. It looks awesome. Everyone thinks it's wallpaper.
When you say she is using the french script stamp... isn't that a background stamp??? Like, with really tiny words?? Or am i just having a blonde moment here?
