I am making a 6x6 album for my grandmother for christmas. It's a Stampin' Up linen album and I want to stamp on the outside of it. I would really like to use some glittery embossing powder if that is possible. What type on ink is best for stamping on these albums? Can I use versamark and emboss? Thanks in advance for any help
I made a scrapbook last year of our trip to Alaska and stamped on linen (K & Co. book) with craft ink and then heat set with my embossing gun. It turned out really well. The stamps I used are the retired SU Pines and the stamps were not super detailed and I had a few voids due to the texture of the book but with the look I was going for with my scrapbook I liked it. HTH.
I don't have any of the craft inks. I have palette inks and color box chalk inks on hand. Of course, I can always run to the store to get some new ink, I just don't have time to place a SU! order. Does anyone have experience with a non- SU! ink or with embossing on an album? I am so scared to start stamping away on the album, lol
I have also used craft ink on my albums since they are great for working on fabrics. You could emboss them as well. or even use Crystal Effects on them for that embossed look. I have never used VersaMark, but don't see why you couldn't use it. It too is a pigment ink and should work just fine.
Another neat thing to do if you are in a pinch and don't have time to get some supplies is to wrap ribbon around the cover in a couple of colors and then just add a large tag to the album to match the theme. That looks really nice and you can do whatever you want to the tag with the supplies that you have on hand. You could use Designer background paper, stamps, emboss, add gold or silver, etc. Just have fun with it.
