Has anyone done this? If so what type of ink to use?
You know I haven't done this, but it sounds like a neat idea. It seems like the kind of ink would depend on the kind/type/texture of the paper napkins. I would probably just try a few using different inks and see what works best.
My initial thoughts would be that the ink might bleed through the napkin though.

We stamped my nephew's wedding napkins with Momento Tuxedo Black and there was no problem whatsoever. We tested it first by stamping an image on a napkin and soaking it. The worst thing we could think of would have bee ink bleeding onto people's hands or faces at the wedding!

I recommend memento or stazon! I've done these in the past and used regular dye ink ~ OMGoodness ~ big no no! As soon as folks started to wipe their mouths their faces picked up the dye ink from the napkin. It is kinda funny now, however, horrifying while happening!

I've always wondered this as well. I think it would be fun to have napkins stamped to match birthday invitations, shower invitations etc. Good to know regular ink transfers to skin and to definitely use Stazon!

made the mistake of using Encore ink years ago for my son's confirmation...Silver ink was beautiful, was on everything...what a mess. Hope this keeps someone else from making the same mistake. LOL!!

I love spending as much time as possible in my Color Studio
UGH... This is what I figured would happen! At a workshop I had, one of the girls asked if the regular SU ink would work on napkins for her wedding, and I said that I thought they would probably smear on people when they tried to use the napkins. She actually said "I don't care as long as the napkins look nice"!!! I was hoping I was wrong... I'm also hoping that since most of the people at the workshop will be at her wedding and heard me say that, that they won't use the napkins ...

I'm in NE Ohio, too, but I think I'm safe since I haven't been invited to any weddings recently! ;)
Another fun way to use stamped napkins -- a little surprise in your kids' lunch boxes that only takes a minute to make the night before. They know you were thinking of them, and you don't care that it ends up in the trash!
