Default Stamping on Fabric??

I want to stamp some onesies for a friend who is pregnant at work (I'm also hoping to use this as a way to advertise my SU business to co-workers). Does anyone know what kind of pads/inks works best for Tshirts/Onesies/Fabric etc.? I'm thinking Craft Pads but would Classic Pads or paint work?? I need suggestions....

TIA,
Heather

Craft pads or fabric paint. Classic pads won't stay on. You must heat set Craft pads. One thing to keep in mind...when using an ink to stamp on fabric, the results won't be as vibrant as stamping on paper. That said, I did muslin wine/cider bags today at my Summer STAMPede and they turned out so cute. I'll post later after my nap.

My U/L showed me how to stamp on fabric (especially the onesies!) with iron on transfers last year. You buy the real cheapy kind (those work the best) and stamp them and then iron it on the tshirt for a smoother look. Just dont do words unless you reverse them first! Otherwise it will all be backwards!

Default Fabric Stamping

Well... to answer your question, I'd like to share a short story with you. There's a group of SU demonstrators that started getting together for a retreat the weekend following SAB for the last two years. We call it "Stampin' Out Cabin Fever Retreat". We have about 20 women come to stamp, gab, and EAT from Friday night through Sunday afternoon.

Well last year, one of the gals, Marsha was pregnant and only a month or so from delivering. As a surprise, I purchased onzies in all different sizes, secretly told everyone to bring stamp sets to use on them. I washed them and I supplied all the craft pads. Since everyone was supposed to bring a M&T for everyone to do, we used this as one of them and then Marsha wouldn't get wise and she even stamped one herself. The creativity of these ladies was outstanding. I think we got pics of them all too.

On Sunday, somebody gave the sign and everyone gathered up their onzie and we gathered around her and before she could see what was happening we "showered" her literally with all the onzies. She was very surprised and very happy. We loved doing it, and all she had to do was iron them before washing them.

So..... use your craft pads and have a ball. It's the easiest to do and you get really big results.

Default Fabric Stamping

I have also found that if you spray the fabric with a vinegar mixture before ironing it helps sets the colors.

I love using my stamps on fabrics! I am definitely going to have to try the iron transfers!

Use your Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp 3 or 4 times with each image with the craft ink. This really helps get a nice bright color.

Hi, I heard about spraying with a vinegar mixture before ironing. What is the mixture? 50/50 with water? I'm getting ready to try stamping on table linens and I think I'm just going to use fabric paints/inks as I don't have craft pads yet.

Any more details would be great!

Vera

Default fabric stamping

Hi Vera---

I use a 50/50 mixture, spritz lightly, cover with another cloth and then heat set. I also agree---use the stampamajig and repeat the pattern several times for intense color!

Best of Luck!
