You guys are really hard on my budget! From what everyone is saying I am going to have to try these. Maybe my demo has them and I can try before I buy.

I have the Lyra and love them.........but I also bought the SU set this summer so I could have them match the papers and embellishments! Both are fab!!
Someone earlier got it exactly right - you ladies are hard on my budget!!!!!
I so can't wait till I get mine!!! I bought the full retired set mildly used from somebody on here and I just checked the tracking #.... it's coming in my box TODAY!!! Oh hurry 3:30pm to come!!!! It's 10:48am right now. :( I also ordered the neutrals WWC from a demo on here. I will be busily playing with them this weekend!!!!
I thought my markers were a good investment until I started using my WWC all the time. I love them. I used to do the whole ink pad watercoloring thing, but now it's all WWC.
So, are the Neutrals that useful? I haven't thought about buying them...but everyone's mentioning them in here. ;)

Ohhh Neutrals is a must have for me!! I used one of neutrals to color the car bumpers from "At The Race" set. I've been working on invitation for a 3 year old boy birthday party.
I'm slooooowly starting to use mine and learn how they work. I think I'm getting a bit better.
I've notice, though, that the colors aren't all true. Anyone else noticed this, or am I just cuckoo? For example, the Real Red is SO NOT! My Certainly Celery barely shows up on paper, and Rose Red was more of a fluorescent pink. :(

I am curious as to how many of you think this too..."I've notice, though, that the colors aren't all true." One of the reasons I was thinking of buying them, is because I am so very disappointed in how the SU Watercolor Pencils do NOT match the SU colors at all. But I don't won't invest in the Watercolor Crayons, if they are not true to the SU colors either? Please let me know what those of you who use the Watercolor Crayons think. Thanks! :-) LM

I don't always use other colors ie. inks, papers along with WWC so I hadn't really noticed that.
I typically use white paper, black stazon then color, color, color.
So I don't really care if they match exactly. And I haven't even noticed that they don't.
But do love my WWC!
jeepers, do I need more things? OF COURSE I DO!! I'd love to try the WC crayons out and this thread is just enabling me to get them! Now, which colour set would be a good one to start out with? Keeping in mind that I don't want the Bold Brights...

I think I use the Rich Regals and Earth Elements the most. Oh, and you've gotta have the neutrals too. And the Soft Subtles are great for a light and elegant effect, and I do use the blues and purples from the Bold Brights alot too... Okay, you need them all!

Ha ha! You're quite an enabler! I'll probably get all of them eventually and I think I'll start out with the neutrals and Earth Elements.
Oh, I do love my watercolor crayons! I like to use my blender pen usually, because blender pens are my tool of choice! I typically color right in the stamped image, LIGHTLY, then smoosh it around with the blender pen. VOILA! I'm an artist! It's great!
Why is it that I cant do ANYTHING right with my WCC? I've tried and tried and I'm just not good with them.
Try this:
color a stamp with the WWC. Pick the colors you want on say a flower and color it all in onto the rubber. Then color the stem w/green. You can use different shades but for now maybe just try one color for flower and one color for stem.
Use a mist spray, not a hard spray but a little mister like you can get at Michaels in the art department for 68 cents or so. Go about 12 inches away from stamp, spritz 2 times then stamp.
Hopefully it will work for you. I love this technique! good luck
Another thing you can do with WWC is to scribble them on some CS and belnd the gently with an aquapainter or waterbrush. Allow it to dry and then stamp an image with black ink on top of the colored background.
Or to be a little different, sprinkle salt- table or rock- over a wet watercolored background and alow to dry fully. Then carefully brush off the salt and and where the salt was you'll have splotches.
Or spritz the wet background with a little Walnut ink. This helps disguise a background that doesn't turn out exactly how I pictured!
My demo has a weekly "party" and she demonstrates some different technique or project at each one. WELL...needless to say, I fell in love with the crayons and ordered a color family. I cannot wait to get them. My demo also sells whatever items she uses at her workshops at a 10% discount - good business on her part, not so good on mine as I find myself buying everything!
She scribbled the crayons on one of the plastic stamp cases for picking up with the blender pens. Worked great and was easy clean up so you didn't even know there was anything on the case at all.
