They drastically redid their colors in 2010, then tweaked them again in 2013. It will be another 3 years by the time the 2016-2017 catalog comes out. I suspect Mossy Meadow eventually replacing the old (and not as pretty IMHO) Always Artichoke. Then a new bright green like Gumball Green or Cucumber Crush. So what are everyone's guesses as to what older colors get the ax?
They need to ask me, I vote for simply adding 2 more colors to each group so we have 12 per group again. I hate that they get rid of a perfectly good color just to make room for a different one!
I could definitely live without Always Artichoke (especially if we kept Mossy Meadow), Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Perfect Plum in the Regals. For Brights, Pumpkin Pie and Rich Razzleberry could go away without me shedding too many tears. In Subtles, Blushing Bride and Pink Pirouette have always left something to be desired (too pale, or ???). Neutrals, I would say goodbye to Soft Suede, and either Chocolate Chip or Early Espresso.

Shows how different we all are! I would keep all of these except blushing bride!
Is is official that SU will retire colors and add new ones this catty, or is this a wishful thinking topic???

I don't hate them or anything. But if some had to go to bring in new colors, those are the ones I'd pick. Which ones would you trade out if you had to?
If I had to trade out, I would trade out rose red, blushing bride and tangerine tango. If they keep mossy meadow, I'd probably loosen my grip on always artichoke! LOL
I just was speculating too. There are some old colors still in their lineup, so I'm suspicious about them. I would like to update some of my beat-up old retired inkpads like More Mustard and Really Rust. They still work and I have refills for them, but they are in sad shape.
Really tired of Rose Red and Perfect Plum. And probably a few more too but especially those! I'd trade artichoke for mellow moss. And yes condord crush...pretty please

Hmmmm.....I wouldn't care if Old Olive, Pacific Point, Marina Mist, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi, Wisteria Wonder, Rose Red, Perfect Plum, Always Artichoke, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede or Island Indigo bit the dust! I've never used any of these.
I seem to be in the minority but I don't care for Mossy Meadow.
I would miss Pumpkin Pie at Halloween/Thanksgiving.
I'd miss Blushing Bride and R. Razzleberry.
I'm tired of Tempting Turquoise
Pink Pirouette is too pale.
I'd be really sad if Chocolate Chip goes.
I'd love Baja Breeze to come back which it wouldn't.
I'd love if Coastal Cabana made a come back and Baked Brown Sugar!!!
Oh and don't retire Blackberry Bliss!

All these votes to get rid of Perfect Plum. Well, I'm in the minority then... Love Perfect Plum!
On the other hand.... maybe it's time for it to go - used it on my wedding invitations in 2004, and been divorced since 2011. Maybe we do need a new shade of purple!
I like Mossy Meadow better than Always Artichoke.
I love crushed curry so would hope for that to stick around.
Chocolate chip can go buh bye. Haven't used it since Early Espresso came out.
I'm rather tired of Tempting Turquoise as well and would like a similar shade that is still turquoise but maybe not quite as bright.
I am surprised that Rose Red and Perfect Plum have lasted as long as they have. I love purple but Perfect Plum is a tired color and could be retired IMO. Rose Red I almost never use. I think I've grabbed it once or twice when trying to find a color to go with some random pattern paper I picked up at Hobby Lobby.
I would love for Blackberry Bliss to stay, keep Wisteria Wonder then give us a new "medium" purple that would work with those two.
I agree that we could lose Always Artichoke and keep Mossy Meadow instead.
I'm not sure which colors I'd give the boot to, but I'd LOVE to see some "clear" colors come in - a true baby pink, a saturated, Crayola-box purple and a decent butter yellow, for example - not muted, not grayed-out, not "trendy" - just normal, everyday workhorse colors, ya know?

Personally, I think that there will be some minor changes this year. No clue what but I'd LOVE to have coastal cabana back! I kind of want strawberry slush to replace mambo melon as well. Really, they could bring back ALL the most recently retired in colors back and I'd be happy happy!
Anyone know when we can expect colors to retire?
I was fortunate to have a friend give me her Stampin' Up stamp pad collection. Eight of them are current and I'm debating on whether I want to buy reinkers for them.
No suggestions on what colors to keep or get rid of as I'm not that familiar with SU shades. But I do agree with Sue about needing good basic workhorse colors, especially a nice baby pink. I'd also light a smokey blue, something similar to CTMH's former "Twilight" blue.

Nope, none of us have any clue. It's all speculation right now. I'm sure you're demo friends will let you know as soon as we are able ;-)

Lucky Limeade replaces Old Olive
Mossy Meadow replaces Always artichoke
Gumball Green replace Garden Green (can you tell I'm tired of their greens?)
Hello Honey replaces Crushed Curry
Baked Brown Sugar replaces Soft Suede
Concord Crush replaces Elegant Eggplant
Peach Parfait replaces Pumpkin Pie
Also need to replace Perfect Plum and Wisteria Wonder with new colors.
Would also like Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, and Crisp Cantaloupe come back (that really was a good in-color year)
Oh Raspberry Ripple! YES! For some strange reason I didn't ever buy RR and I love it. I was in a stamping slump the year it retired. ;( I also love Peach Parfait and only bought one pack.

I've started buying CS packs from Michael's to have some of the bright colors since SU retired all the bold brights (like brilliant blue that I use for patriotic cards for 14 grandkids!).
I miss the yellow we had before Daffodil Delight (name?) simply because it was AWESOME at removing the stains from stamps! Just stamp with the yellow, clean the stamp and VOILA - no stains. Maybe they could bring it back as a tool! ;)

It feels like the last color renovation was just over a year ago. I think they shouldn't change the colors so often. There are five new colors every year replacing five old ones.

And here is why any color changes will not make everyone happy! ;-)
I LOVE cajun craze, rich razzleberry, both of those pinks and early espresso! I used to like always artichoke, until the much-better-mossy-meadow came along
I'd like to see VERY OLD olive retire. I still use it quite a bit, because I love green, but I yawn when I use it. Maybe bring lucky limeade into replace it

I think the only colors that "come back" are former InColors and then only once- when they get retired again they are gone for good. They also came out with some brand-new colors in 2010 and 2013.
The InColors can be pretty, but also too trendy, so they get stale and dated quickly. I agree that we need another basic baby pink-the dirty looking Blushing Bride or too pale Pink Pirouette aren't it. I bet one or both of those will get dropped!

Cool Caribbean was my all time favorite! I always thought it would come back. I hardly EVER see someone even mention it though! Coastal Cabana has now stolen my heart. But alas that has retired too. I bought five packs of it, so I should be good for a long while!
Reading everyone's likes and dislikes has been fun! It's great to brighten up cold, dismal winter months with the thoughts of wonderful color!

I agree, it's fun to see what people like and don't like...there's a color for everyone :-)
I'd like to have most of our colors back but I get why it's not possible to keep all of them current, but it would be fun :-)
And I wouldn't count out really old colors...you never know what SU will do :-) And colors are kind of cyclical like fashion...what was old is once new again!
And I will literally run down the street shouting should coastal cabana come back! Cool Caribbean would be ok too!

In my opinion, Pretty in Pink is the best pink ever. I hoard what I have left of that, hoping it comes back. Or at least something so close that it works for me.
I was bummed when they retired Pretty in Pink. Luckily, I got the newer foam inkpad, an extra reinker and an extra cs pack. I wish they would focus more on adding new basic colors and increasing the color families and less on tiny and hard-to-use thinlit dies with the inevitable matching floral stamps. We used those tiny flower dies that come with the lacy heart set at a stampin worship last night and no one could get them to cut out the stamped images evenly!
