Hi,
I placed an online order, received my order minus the new bird punch. I was really bummed since this was the item I was most excited to receive. The invoice notes that it's on backorder. My question is..how do I know when it will ship? Do they send you an email message with the status. I haven't received any follow up information from Stampin Up.

When I've had backorders with SU, they've shipped super quickly. I've been amazed. One of them even shipped with my order, lol. Another came within a few days later.
I guess the only time that might not happen is if they were re-vamping a product and waiting for it to be shipped to them via a manufacturer. I would call your demo if you're worried and she can access the backorder ship date on her part of the SU website. (those demos get all sorts of neat stuff that we don't!) I hope it comes soon!
if you're a demo you can check it under your order tab...if not you can ask your demo to check...under ordering the backorder report is first on the drop down list

I thought if you ordered on-line thru the website and something is not in stock, you can't order it...but if you order thru a demo, then it can be backordered but either way the demo will let you know the status of it.
The last information I read was that the bird punch would not start shipping until 4/19...hth

Keep your fingers crossed, mine BO's usually ship earlier than they say. not always but most of the time, sometimes even a LOT earlier. A lot of the new mini items have been super popular. You'll love the punch. And it never fails...that thing you are MOST excited will be BO'd, don't you hate that!!!!!

From watching all the orders and backorders from the last two Stampin' Up! mini catalogs, it looks like the new punches, textured embossing folders and embosslit dies are very popuolar. There are more that will be introduced in the Summer mini on May 1st. When the mini comes out, if you see something you like, I'd order it right away before the item(s) go on backorder. I know that the new Square Lattice embossing folder will go fast - it's awesome!
