Stampabilities House Mouse Fragrant Shower stamp (trouble)
I purchased the above stamp from our local Hobby Lobby, I haven't used it until now. I am having problems getting a complete image, I have tried Memento Inks (Tuxedo Black & Rich Cocoa) and Black Stazon, and it leaves out part of the flower and one of the mouse's ears. Always the same area. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but disappointed that I can not get it right. Any one have any suggestions?? Thanks Joan (LOTRhobbit)
I have quite a few House Mouse stamps and think they are sure cute.
But I've had troubles like you mention getting the whole image to stamp clearly.
I've had the best luck with Versafine Onyx. It seems to do really well with images with lots of details. I use it for all my image stamping with good results.
I would suggest turning your stamp over and applying the ink from the top, paying special attention to the spots that don't seem to be stamping right.
Then when you stamp it, press, press, press very firmly, and especially that area. Good luck.
If none of this works, you could have a defective stamp where the image is not flat and won't pick up the ink properly.

I do not buy House Mouse but I have had this problem with a few of my finer detailed stamps. I went to my local Micheal's (or JoAnn Fabrics) and bought a "foam backed" sheet. It looks like a sheet of paper but it has foam like a mouse pad on one side and adhered to a shiny paper. It think you peel and stick the foam paper somewhere, but once I started to use this when I stamp I haven't had a problem since.
I sandwich it like this:
Foam Pad
Scrap Piece of Paper under my main piece of paper (to catch the embossing powder)
Piece of Paper I am stamping my image on
I use House Mouse very often and I also like Versafine ink (when I am using pencils to color). I use memento black often for copic use with them and haven't had a problem. I would try putting the stamp down and putting the paper on top and burnishing it that way. Also, a foam pad underneath your paper can sometimes help get a clear impression... I hope it works out for you, if not, I would check to see if you can get a replacement.

Thanks ladies, for the info. I do apply my ink from the top, by tapping the ink pad over all of the stamp, especially on the areas that are not coming out clear. I will try the foam pad under the paper, although I am not embossing this one, I think I have tried this method before. Will see if it will help. thanks again. Joan

This is how I do large or problematic stamps if I really don't want to unmount them.

Joan,
I just learned this trick and I'm sure it was somewhere on SCS, but have no clue WHERE or WHO. All I know is that it works. I use it for all my House Mouse stamps and my PSX stamps. Ink your image as you already do by turning it rubber side up. Then put your paper on top of a phone book...I kid you not. Our local phone directory is only about an INCH thick, but it works. I forgot to do this last night when stamping a PSX Poinsettia image and I had missing areas. Once I re-inked and stamped on top of the phone book, it was fine. Please let us know if this works out for you. By the way, I don't do any EXTRA HARD pressing. I do press firmly straight down and am careful not to rock back and forth. Hope this works for you.
[How much longer do you think they'll be printing phone directories? I'm thinking they are going to get thinner and thinner with only yellow pages in them. Everyone is going to cell phones!]

Thanks so much ladies, I used my Memento Ink and a mouse pad, and it worked great, I had read this trick somewhere before but I completely forgotten about it, so now will keep the mouse pad handy.
I use Versafine and the foam pad trick too. I have those large House Mouse stamps that are almost impossible to stamp. I also "walk" around the stamp gently with my fingers. I get a good even coverage that way. Most of the times I want to throttle those sweet mice, lol. They are a challenge. Once you get the good impression it was worth it.

Thanks everyone for all your input, so far I only have one stamp and it is a very detailed and large and at one point I was thinking of throwing it out the door. But those little mice are so cute, just had to find a solution to my problem. And I know this is the best place to get some help. Hugs to all Joan
