My gallery shows my answer (but I have been trying to branch out), but I'm a solid type of gal. I tend to prefer the versatility that comes with a solid image that I can use a ton of different ways.
I love solids and only solids with a rare exception. Coloring takes too long, IMO. Stamp-n-go for me and I had no idea I was in the minority!

I used to use only solid stamps, but I've found that recently I have been reaching for line stamps more and more. Sometimes it's just fun to snuggle up on your sofa and color a monkey!http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/...cm_id=3810.220
I like both for different reasons. Solid images for watermarks and creating my own pattern paper. Open images for coloring in as the focal point of my project.
The solid images I purchase are small items like flowers and leaves. There are some large solid images I use all in one color that are best left alone for more drama.
Animals and some scene images certainly need to be colored in. I'm not a painter, but do like color pencils/chalks.
In the beginning, I only purchased solid stamps because I was intimidated by coloring. I'm horrible at watercoloring. But now that I have more markers and have been working more with my Prisma pencils, I'm buying more open stamps.
umm..Both. I an DYING to try out the Brayered Sky technique, but currently do not own any solid stamps suitable for that purpose( waiting for the retired list to come out so I can buy a few things) But I did this week come into possession of a stamp set that requires mucho coloring in, and I am in LOVE with it.
I love my solid flowers and stuff for embossing with a punch and I love being able to indulge my coloring book fetish as a 40 plus something year old using anything from markers to chalks and stuff in between.
i have a lot of solid images because when i'm shopping for stamps that's what my eye is naturally drawn to, i'm trying to branch out because i want to do more coloring!
