I sent a congrats card to my nephew and his fiance when they got engaged. Went to see them last weekend, and my card was on their refrigerator! It brought tears to my eyes!
Years ago a friend was going through a divorce and I sent a card every month to let her know I was thinking of her. About a year later I saw every card on her fridge. I jumped for joy.

Yay you. I. like Lutheran, had a friend going thru a very hard time. I made a card a month and put all I had into them. I made folded, ornate cards. I enjoyed the process and thought if she just got a few minutes joy out of it I would be happy. Later. after she had passed away her daughter wrote how much my friend enjoyed the cards. That she looked forward to each arrival. And that the daughter was going to keep the cards and make a scrapbook out of them as they both got fun out of opening each card. Yes some of our cards gets tossed quickly away but that one time when they are cherished makes it worth while.
My sister-in-law recently asked me to make several card fronts (to add to actual cards I've made and sent her). She intends to make a collage, of sorts, from the card fronts and hang the piece of "wall art" in her bedroom. That made me feel super!
There are two ladies that I send cards to pretty regularly. One is here local and the other one is about 3 hours away.
The one who lives local is someone I get to visit with occasionally. The last time I went over to her house, I noticed quite a few of my cards set up around her living room, dining room and kitchen. It touched my heart :p
The lady who lives 3 hours away just celebrated her 100th birthday earlier this year! She used to volunteer with me at a local hospital but then moved to be near her daughter. She keeps my cards on her mantel and shifts them around as more come in. So sweet!

How sweet for you!! It's thrilling to know that even young people can enjoy and appreciate our cards . . .Wonderful! As was mentioned by a few others, that's why we do what we do, for those one or two special folks who really enjoy them. . . Mahalo for sharing, it made me smile too!
I send out a lot of cards. A lot!! And 95% of the time, I never hear back. And that's totally fine! Years, literally years, after sending people a card, sometimes they will show it to me and tell me what a difference it made to them.
One relative was dying of cancer and I sent her cards periodically. When I went to her house, I found out she loved them so much, she wanted to do card making as a hobby and had subscribed to some magazines. Yet after sending each card, I never heard a word back.
What we do makes a difference. I don't want a thank you. I get embarrassed, actually, when I get them. But every. single. card makes a difference. Keep sending them out!
I loved reading everyone's comments. I actually sent two out in today's mail. I am a card sender. Sometimes it is the people you don't expect that comment - like my brother-in-law, or a crazy cousin, . . . . It gives me joy to make them and to send them. I'll keep doing it!
