ok. since I've been on scs, i've been producing soooo many cards. I've filled up my card storage box. given some to my mil. just finished a OSW and have 10 more cards to add (think I'll gift them as well). What do you do with all your cards? I can't keep em all. I'm not a demo so I don't need em for show. And my family is simply not that big! Share with me what you do with em all....thanks!
You must have time and creativity. I work fulltime and mostly get to stamp on one day Sat or Sun. I can't keep up with my stock. I do have a very large family, and I vary who I send cards to, that way I don't offend anyone. They are so pleased to get them and since I don't ALWAYS send for every occaison they really appreciate it when I do send something. When I do get ahead, sometimes I love the card so, I can't let go. I wish I had the time to join some of the swaps or send to hospitals or military. But you STAMP ON you'll find something to do with them.

Find a way to sell them for some extra money! I work part-time and sell cards at my office. All of my husband's employees know that I make cards and they buy them from me too. Also, get together with a couple friends and have a craft show - I sell a ton that way too. You can always send them to the soldiers too.

Thought I joined RAK, but request never went through after I pm'd back. Maybe I didn't do something right. I'll have to keep an eye out for RAK posts. Forgot about them.
There is a girl named Debbie who is always looking for cards for terminally ill/chronically ill children. If you'd like her email address....PM me and tell her I gave you her email address...I'm sure she'd LOVE to have any extras you have.
What about donating them to non profit organizations? Animal shelters, churches, whatever cause you're interested in. Or sign up for some of the swaps here and make cards for that. Nursing homes and assisted living facilities would love to have them too, I'm sure.
You can send them to people on your church prayer chain, or for church people's birthdays..... or maybe to the soldiers in iraq... or donate to charities that use cards.... foster care agencies, women's shelters, prisons, etc...
I have sent my extras to "stampfunny" aka Debbie Higgins. She is a member here at SCS and uses them for several organizations that sends them to terminally ill children, etc. I sent her a box about 1 month ago. She is very nice.
Yes, donating the extras to charity is a fabulous idea! Every year one of the local radio stations here in Savannah collects homemade valentines for children who have to spend Valentine's Day in the hospital. If you have some kid-friendly cards in your overflowing storage box, here's a link to the info on the project:
Someone, I think it is Rox71, has a couple of organizations in her signature line. I think I have the right name. One organization sends cards to sick children and I think the other is for soldiers. Can anyone confirm that I got the right person?

Other charitable suggestions:
My daughter's dance studio has a big fund raiser, and they have a craft wheel for which they ask for donations. I was thinking about donating some cards for that this year.
Our local elementary school has a Mayfair every year. They always are looking for donations for a silent auction. One card wouldn't do it, but I think a set of birthday cards, Christmas cards, or notecards would bring a little money.
I'm sure many communities have similar opportunities.
I just sent a PM to Rox71. She has a couple of organizations that send cards to children who are sick, et cetera. I'm sure she could use any amount you want to send.
Thank you all for the great ideas! I'm definitely donating them somewhere! My hubby was "over there" all of 2004 (stationed in Kuwait). I think the guys were just sent over again. My dh retired so I don't have to worry about him, but I bet his buddies would love some words from home. Plus my step ma works at a animal shelter. I'll have to ask her if they would like cards! Silly that I never thought of these things! Thank you all again!
There is that cute avatar again from the poster of this thread! Love that little face!
Okay Garnet let me know to come back here after midnight when I should be in bed. So take a look at my signature and you will find three contacts for cards. I haven't done Love Letters personally but my SIL has.
Keiki is not in need of birthday cards at this time and I send those out anyway for the organization so why ship to Hawaii so they can be shipped to me!
One last note is that the Soldier site prefers the popular half sheet size for easy mailing. I didn't know this until my SIL told me last week when I emailed her my tall card photos.
A couple more thoughts for you...
-What about doing a craft show and selling greeting cards?
-Stamped cards make great gifts, tie a ribbon around 10 of them and attach a little tag on top of it. Great gift.
- How joining some swaps with them, of course then you would more cards back again. But it might be kinda fun!
My suggestion-homesick college kids!!!!! My daughter's friends are so jealous of the cards I send. They love snail mail. You can use all the girly sets too.
Operation:Quiet comfort can use get well/thinking of you cards. We send Go Bags to field hospitals in Iraq, Serbia and Afghanistan which are given to the wounded soldiers. Each bag contains personal care, entertaiment items and at least 3 get well/thinking of you cards.
I put a group of my cards in a box with dividers (blank, birthday, get well, sympathy, etc) and gave it to the girl scouts for a silent auction. I will do the same for the school's silent auction.
I've also given several to Operation Quiet Comfort.
Last, I've packaged 3 together and given a set to each of the teachers and staff at my children's school. I hope to do that again this year.

Barb, Here is a link to info. regarding a little boy with muscular dystrophy. His grandma is sponsoring a card aution and needs cards to auction off to benefit her grandson.
If you do a search and use soldiers, you will get lots of links and ideas of where to send cards.

That's me last time I checked anyway!
Update here:
Keiki can use anything, I had a third link in my signature for children and the founder recently passed away so the organization will disband as of May 1st.
So all their 1,200 children will be sent information on Keiki. Now that's a lot of children compared to the number we have now. I do not look forward to updating the birthday Excel file that many times!!! I know some of the children I informed recieve from both so the number will come down a little.
I also send directly to the soliders so they can send them home. I found an SCS member here who's husband is depoyed so I sent to his address and he shared with his unit. A very small price for us to pay for what they are doing to make our world a safer place to live - don't you think!
thanks for the link roxi for the angle stampers for our military people. I know they appreciate any bit of home they can get. And from the looks of it they are going to be there a long time.
OUr work currently has one person in Iraq since last july and another husband of a coworker has been there a couple of months and a former employee that quit our job to join the military and has been there since november. My dh is in the air national guard and so far hasn't been called yet but there is always that chance.
no matter how you feel about the situation the troops need our support they are doing their jobs and many are away from family a long time and many are only "weekend warriers" bless them all.
Hi,
So many good causes out there- I send mine to www.anysoldiers.com I click on where to send, and pick a couple of platoons that are large. There are no stores for soldiers to buy cards in Iraq and Afghanistan...... Just my 2 cents,......
Thanks for all the great ideas! I forgot I had this thread going! I found a great way to use a bunch of my cards. As Jeanne suggested, I joined the RAK group. Hopefully many a SCSer has smiled when my card showed up in their mailbox! I haven't ruled out these other ideas, tho. I'm really for sending them to the soldiers as my DH was over there what seems like yesterday!
I send many to the ChemoAngels program that I'm involved in. I send several to friends. I also send them to soldier programs, etc.

Go to the Home page, part way down on the left............join a group. You must send an email to the moderator of the group. Then they add your name, address, etc. to a list and you are in! It's lots of fun. You can get birthday cards, anniversary cards, or just because.....cards! It's much more exciting going to the mailbox once you join. YOu just never know what's going to be in the mail.
