I appreciate it when you guys post the minis early for us to see. It gives a while to look at the sets, see which ones we like , which ones we want and the ones the Have to get. It just gives me more time to think about my purchases and spread things out if need be to get what I want. So thanks to those of you who let us have a sneek peek.
Just looked at the mini...not my favorite, although the Christmas papers are kind of nice. I don't really think that the light blue matches the rest of the colors in the set though...Maybe it's just me.
I personally love it! I haven't even started to add up everything I would like. I really love the papers and the ribbon. I prefer to make final decisions when the actual hard copy arrives at my house, then I fall in love with everything! Between the new catalog and now the mini, I better have a successful garage sale next weekend since I already spent my stamping budget for the next several months.
"For example...alot of gals are using AMuse stamps. They have not really resonated with me. But that's okay, because I can see how others may find them to their liking. However, i still like to see the samples since something may come along that trips my trigger."
I, too, don't see much to get excited about in the A Muse line. The images are just too simple and child-like for my tastes.

I like the Think Big set a lot. That's the only set that grabs me...except for Perfect Ending. Other than that I'd like to get the designer paper, ribbon and ribbon keepers.

I saw several things in there that are on my must have list. CAn't wait to get the hard copy. The ribbon holders are a must have. My ribbon now tries to escape all the time.-

Oh, and I like the Love Notes, too!

took a look at it, nothing jumped off the page at me yet but I need to see a paper copy to get the real feel of it! Snow Flurries looks neat, Quick Cards looks cool (although I'd cut them apart to make 6 stamps), love Think Big (good for scrapbooking!) and I'm so not into Halloween stuff. Why would you send out Halloween cards? I could see using it for scrapbooking, but what else?
Thanks so much for the link. I see a few I want, but....like others....as soon as I see samples, I know there will be others I cannot live without. Fab paper!
i like this catty... surprise... actutally no for me... usually when people say they are not crazy about the sets.. i usually do.
i have had a hard time with the summer mini, so not my style but i will defenetly order paper, ribbon, the halloween set matching wheel, snoflakes and perfect ending
thanks for the link

I just read this whole thread and I'm disappointed, but not in the holiday mini. I think that the holiday mini is fun. I am new to SU, last year's holiday mini was my introduction to stamping and SU. I am also new to SCS and it surprises me how often people are complaining about SU rather than delighted about it. It seems to me, as sort of an outsider, that the "cool" thing to do is to rag on the new stuff. I saw a lot of that when the new catalog came out, too. I am happy to see everything...stuff that I love, like, feel so-so about, or don't like. Like many others have said, the magic of SU is that there is something for everyone to enjoy. It bums me out to see so much negativity about things that are new and exciting.

Yeah, there can be alot of negativity. I think SU! does a great job of providing something for everyone to like. I'm not in love with most of the sets in the mini, but I think those little snowflakes are irresistable and they've done a great job with their extras, too. There's always something positive that could be said...
I didn't love every single set, but then again, I know it wasn't made just for me!! (Now that would be awesome!) I really didn't like the Sumer Mini at all, didn't get a single set, so the Holiday to me was a huge improvement!! I want Snow Flurries, Heavenly Peace, A Merry Little Christmas, and the Arachnaphobia wheel!! Now I just have to narrow down that list to probably two sets so I can afford my large catty goodies, too! Even though I am not always super impressed with each mini, I love that they come out with one every few months--the ones I love I love and the ones I dont love are fun to whine about I still get a lot of ideas from the mini's I don't buy from.
I'm disappointed. I always look forward to the holiday mini for elegant holiday sets. I only see one that I like. Everything in the mini and almost all of the new stuff in the regular caddy is very "cutesy." I'm not good at "cutesy." I'm bummed. Oh well... I guess I just saved myself some money.
Amy
Loving the snowflakes cause I am totally clueless and I can actually do cool stuff with little pieces, so I am hoping the same for snowflakes.
Interested in the ribbon and the ribbon boxes.
Gonna take a second look at the designer paper.
SO GLAD I don't LOVE anything else in there, since I would blow a bunch of money and likely end up just pissed off that I wasn't making anything good with the sets...I am just as happy looking at the purdy stuff that you all are making.
that wheel is soooo freaky creepy (which is good, it is for Halloween after all ;) ) but being majorly arachniphobic, it made my skin crawl!! LOL!
i *love* how creepy it looks. I have the happy go lucky spider wheel but this one makes me smile (in a rubbing my hands together and maniacally laughing kind of way)

Uh oh. I just got a vision of you in a witch costume over a cauldron doing that freaky witchy cackle laugh..... hee hee hee...
Ok, I just looked at the Christmas mini and I saw a lot of "must haves". If I keep buying like this a might have to go to, yuck, it's a 4 letter word - work!!,
LOL!! I guess I will start holding some money back, because I want a lot!!! I sound like a spoiled little kid.
im sure it REALLY doesnt help that i cant get teh out correctly either....
so, i read this thread again.. and for the majority of the posts, it reads:
i dont really like much except this one or two thing.. im so disappointed.
it seems so absurd to focus on only negative than positive. if you like at least one thing (sassy being the exception), then why be disappointed???
Ok, I'm going to spin the positive now. In looking again at the mini, did you notice that they designated that little symbol for the In Color items? I don't have my big catty in front of me, so I don't know if they put that little symbol in there or not... but I love how they're coming out with more items that use the In Colors. Those ribbons and the papers are a must have for me. So it makes me wonder if future minis will have more In Color things. I love those new colors!!!

Welcome to SCS!
After you've been around awhile, you'll notice that there are some people who would complain if SU! cured world hunger and some who would stick up for them if they started doing kitten sacrifices at the end of each month. However, most people fall between those two camps. Usually, you can get a good feel for the "tone" of a thread in the original post and in the title. When I'm having days when I don't want to hear anything negative, I stick to the happy and silly threads. When I'm having days when I need my creativity jumpstarted, I spend a lot of time in the gallery, in the challenges, and looking at threads dedicated to posting a variety of cards. Today, I clicked on this thread. After a few days, you'll see how to spot the threads that "speak to you" a mile away.
BTW, I like the holiday mini too! I'm waiting until I get a hard-copy to decide what to buy. While I certainly peek at the online version, I'm always better able to see the details when I've got the hard copy.

And then there are others that jump all over you for saying anything remotely negative about SU, which is why I have gotten away from stamping. SU has it's faults just like every other big company, and some demos don't seem to recognize that. :???:

And
What I meant to say before I accidentally posted was that I have been a demo in the past, so I have been on both sides of the fence.
From what I have heard so far about the xmas mini I know I will be broke after I do see it. Christmas stamps etc. are always my downfall. Like Runamok, I also didn't like anything in the summer mini. But, I was really happy because I always buy from the mini's till I get everything I want, (just in case I can't get it again) then I order from the big catty. So since I didn't get anything from the mini I was able to buy more supplies, which I also needed. It worked out great. Still helped me to spend more $$$$. My family would be shocked if I actually said I didn't buy anything. I wouldn't want that to happen.

Oh, there are definitely those people too! That's why I made the "sacrificing kittens" comment in my earlier post. It definitely goes both ways.

That's so sad! It's a shame that situations with people has affected your desire to stamp. I sometimes force myself away from the boards if I feel myself getting upset here. I visit here for fun and if it isn't fun, I should step away from the keyboard. Of course, that's sometimes easier said than done!
I rave about things I love far more than say what I don't like. I think if it is OK to love things in the mini and to say that as I have in the past (I just could not shut up about how much I loved Linen and Pattern of Friendship on this board) that it should be OK for us to talk about what we don't like!
Oh trefoil, that really made me laugh. I'm sure there's some kind of fancy SCS computer language using acronymns and things like * or > to illustrate me actually laughing out loud, but since I don't know the fancy language I thought I'd write it in English. Thanks for the advice. I'm having a blast with SU and I love anything and everything creative, so I think I'm going to stick to the happy and positive threads, and of course the wonderful gallery. I am sure glad that negativity doesn't permeate to the gallery, I'm happy to say that I haven't seen anything sour posted there. Thanks to everyone who makes my daily trips to SCS so much fun!
