I have seen many cards made using Iridescent Ice or some other type of sparkle which is no longer available. Any suggestions on something I can purchase which will add a snowy sparkle to my cards? I'm open to any brand but I'm most familiar with Stampin' Up.
There are a number of similar embossing powers in the world...you can look at Ranger, Judikins and Sparkle and Sprinkle for starters I have not worked with the one you want to replace so I dont know which one would be closest.
I've just been using WOW brand in Sparkling Snow today. It is a mix of white and iridescent. It's been too many years since I used SU's iridescent ice so I'm not sure how it compares but it's very pretty!
I found I got better results if I shook the jar before pouring to get a better mix of the iridescent particles through out.
If its to make a snowy background, Ive just bought some clear acetate with the snowflakes on at Crafters Companion, it works like a dream to make a real snowy background on any card. But not sure if that is what you want or its snow on certain items, cause then the embossingpowder probably works the best or a snowpen, that can be bought too, but not sure, who might have those in the US as Im in Europe.
Heat & Stick powder is a heatable "glue" in a powder form. Stamp with VersaMark, then sprinkle on Heat & Stick powder, heat just to the melting point, then sprinkle with your favorite glitter. This results in a very similar effect to the Iridescent Ice embossing powder, but you actually achieve an amped up glittery effect since the glitter is not mixed with an embossing powder in the dry form.
For a smeared glittery effect, just smear on your VersaMark, then apply Heat & Stick powder to melting, then add glitter. The example I'm attaching was created with Iridescent Ice ep ... but still shows the smeared VersaMark application. ;)
I used "sparkling snow embossing powder" by WOW last year. Purchased it on Amazon for about $7 Everyone in my "card club" loved it and a few asked where to purchase it.:p
