I haven't bought a card in years,Awna-I think that my hand would physically seize up if I tried. I do hear ya though- I gave a home-made card to a gal in my bunco group and she was like "oh this is the kind of thing that my mother likes" OUCH!

It's possible that they're jealous. People sometimes get nasty when they see you do something they don't feel they can do themselves. I gave my boss a box of hand made cards for her birthday and when my other boss' birthday came up she said she would love getting the same thing. They both tell me I'm working in the wrong business.

she's about the only one i give store-bought cards to. i have a stack of 'em. really ugly ones. lol

I also haven't bought a card in years! And even when my hubby gives me a store bought card for birthdays/anniversarys, I just cringe, and think, "I could have made one and saved you $4.99!" hehehe...can you imagine making your own birthday card for your hubby to turn around and give to you?

But really, I can't fathom spending money on cards anymore. Even though bulk Christmas cards are probably cheaper (and much less time consuming!) than making them yourself, where's the fun in that? I like to stand out, so I'd rather send people an original creation rather than the same old card that everyone else bought from their local Wal-mart!

I rarely, if ever, send store-bought cards. I always stamp extra cards so I can have them on hand when I need them.
