Unfortunately I absolutely LOVE ribbon and haven't found one solution for storage of all the stuff I own! I have an over the door storage that holds several spools...I also have 7 of those Target ribbon organizers....Clear jars from Ikea-this is for the ribbon by the yard that I buy (I've been saving Classico jars that I still need to spray paint the lids to also store ribbon)...and I also have a small wooden crate for my latest M's $1 Ribbon spree (because it doesn't fit anywhere else!)

P.S. A girl can never have too much ribbon....stamps.....ink....glitter.....

I bought a wooden standing organizer that has 4 dowels across to store ribbon. It holds a lot! It would probably be super easy to make...a couple small boards, a couple dowels & screws and a few basic tools.

Oops I found it on Ebay!

I'm sorry--I left my digital at my cousin's house, so I can't get photos. I have tried many different ways (dowel rods, etc), but love the swing-arm trouser hangers. My dh never used them in his closet anyway!! I have one for each color hue and love them because it is easy to remove the entire ribbon spool with this method. It also makes is very to add additional spools, which I do ALL of the time! All of the other things that I tried made it too difficult to remove the ribbon spool and I was wasting too much ribbon by cutting it piece by piece for each project. I just keep them hanging in the closet in my scrap/stamp room!
If I buy ribbon by the yard (such as those great 1.99 scrap ribbon bags at JoAnn's), I wrap them around a paper towel holder and secure and then keep them on the trouser hangers as well! Holy cow, am I chatty tonight!!!!

I don't have a dedicated stamping room so my supplies are in a closet and a cupboard. I keep my ribbons on tiered skirt/pants hangers grouped in color families. That way I can quickly see which hanger I want to bring out to the kitchen (my workspace). It's portable and I just hang it up on the high chair where it's out of the way 'til I need it.

All of these ideas sound great! Does anyone have the Craft Locker storage space for ribbon or wheels? I have been thinking about these because my stamping room (my bedroom, lol) is extremely dusty. Anyone have any ratings on these products? (Sorry if I hijacked your thread. Should I have made it another?)

I went to the CraftLocker website to view the ribbon storage a while back and they were out of stock because of the demand. It looks really nice, but doesn't look like it would hold much ribbon. In fact, the photo in the post above (which is my system of choice) holds more ribbon for about 6.00 than the storage locker for around 35.00! You can always put plastic over the hanger to keep the dust off, lol!!

Stampintoo,
What a fabulous idea for ribbon storage! That's one thing I already have and won't need to spend any $.
Thanks
Sheila

OF course you don't need to start a new one! I'm curious of what everyone has to say! Some really great ideas!

Someone was asking about the rain gutters. You just nail or screw them to your wall and it holds your ribbon. A scrapbookstore down here uses gutters to display their paper.

You're welcome. Got the idea from my demo who didn't have a stamping room either. (Hope she has one in her new house.) Before that, I had them lined up in portable bins that took up a lot more space. The hangers work great for those of us who are space challenged. :-) Now if only I could figure out how to manage my ever growing stamp collection!
