Default Shout Color Catcher--for stamping!

I'm excited, I found something new to stamp on! I was doing laundry the other day and as I put the lint in the lint/laundry trash box I noticed the Shout Color Catcher I'd used with the new clothes after Christmas (teals/blue/purple) and thought "what a pretty color, I wonder if I could use it as a mat on a card." I took it inside and discovered it was slightly lighter than Baja Breeze, so I made the flower card.

This didn't show off this cool find enough though, so I wanted to make something that focused on it a little more--the polka dot card.

I love how the stamping came out on it, and the different texture it gives. I'm not sure how scrapbook friendly it is, but I had fun with it! note--I used lots of mono adhesive on a piece of Baja and adhered it to that before trimming it. I discovered with the flower card that it's hard to get square corners because it's soft and wrinkled, and doesn't lay down nice in the paper cutter.

Unfortunately I mostly use the color catchers when washing a new red item, which gives a pink sheet, and I don't really like working with pinks. Of course, one could buy new clothes, towels, etc. because they might produce a nice color to work with! I can just hear it, "These towels don't even begin to go in our bathroom." "No? But they produced a great Color Catcher when washed. See the card I made with it."

Someone else had a thread just the other day on using dryer sheets to stamp on.

It gives a very interesting texture! And the Mono Multi didn't show through when you glued it to the cardstock?

Probably not archival for scrapbooks, but for a card, I think it's a cool idea. I may try playing with my Distress Inks and this stuff - since it's make to use in a wet environment!

Kudos! Nice cards!

Very clever! I saw a technique using a Multi-used softener sheet to soften a stamped image. The person use spray adhesive to get the sheet to adhere to the card stock. Thought that was Eco-friendly and now you shared how to use a color catcher-NICE!

I had a color catcher come out a really pretty bright pink one time. I saved it for a while because I thought I would use it in my stamping. After a while, I tossed it because I was tired of it sitting around.

Here's a link to explain the Shout Color Catchers:

Shout | Products | Shout Color Catcher

You use them to "catch" colors that may bleed/run.
Quilter's use them to prewash their fabric so the color will not bleed/run after the quilt is made.

I'm going to try this stamping technique the next time I wash my fabric.
