Can those of you that have bought these little discs called Layer Ease from SU let me know how you like them. Are they easy to use??? Do you have good control with them? I have the cutting system from Creating Memories and love it but thought these would be good for shapes. What does everyone think?
I have the Layer Ease but have only used them a couple of times. They probably work great when you have a bit more experience. It was a little awkward for me and took a few tries, but I had great end results.
Maybe other SCS'ers have pointers???

I bought this before SU carried it. It's called Mat Magic Maker (or something like that). I use it quite a bit in scrapbooking and really like it. I find it very easy to use.

I have the LayerEase but don't really like it too much. After using the CM system you might not be happy with LE unless you are a pro with the scissors. I can never get mine PERFECT enough for me when I cut it out. With the CM everything is seamless and perfect.
I have one and don't use it very often, but when I do use it, it's awesome. It's great for odd, irregular shapes.
You may want to try it out before you buy it, if you can...it works a bit differently than, well, anything else I've ever used. What happens is that you mount the item you want matted, use a pencil (I prefeer mechanical pencil) and then trace around the item. If the wheel slips, you just erase and keep going. After it's all traced, then you use scissors or a craft knife to cut out the mat.
It works best with thick layers- photos and cardstock. Not-so-much with thin paper.
I aquired layer ease through a trade and I personally love it. I think its one of those items you either love it or you hate it. I use it way more for scrapbooking than I do for cards if that makes a difference. Its only a pain if the paper/cs your tracing is really thin, that doesn't give the layerease anything to hold on to.

I have the Layer Ease & don't use it much. It's a cool tool, but I simply don't need to mat irregular shapes much; usually prefer to put them on a square or rectangular mat.
I have the Layer Ease, and it works okay, but I find I rarely use any but the very smallest disc. I prefer a narrow border. I'm always misplacing the disc, too. Don't know how many times I've had to clean off my stamping area just so I could find the darn thing!

I have been using my layer ease more lately. I just made a set of 12 cards as a birthday present for my mom and I had to use it 12 times. I also use them to make mats for tags. I find them fairly easy to use with a mechanical pencil. I do slip up sometimes, but just as long as you keep the shape in one place it's easy to get back on track.
