I keep hearing about great deals at online stores and then find out that they don't ship to Canada or it's very expensive and not worth it to ship. I was shopping around for some scallop square punches that are $20-$25 at the LSS, but online for $8-$18, but of course no Canadian shipping! ARGH!! So ladies where do you get great online deals?
Also Gina K (she's one of the SCS member companies) has flat rate $5.95 shipping to Canada with purchases over $35 (which in her store i never have a problem doing ) and it doesn't matter how heavy the package is. This is great for ordering punches since they are super heavy.
I am not Canadian but I wonder.....aren't there Canadian online stores that will ship according to Canadian prices? Is there a Canadian eBay store? What kind of craft stores are available to you there? Like Mike's or Jo's.....or is there something else you use? SU is now in Canada what are their shipping fees like?
I keep hearing complaints about the Canadian postal system being slow and expensive. Is that only for international mail or all mail?

ALL MAIL!!! However mail from the states does take longer to get to us. There are lots of online Canadian stores but I still find myself shopping across the border b/c even with shipping taxes/duty i'm still saving significant amounts of money.
For example I ordered a set of Nestabilities from Cut@home and with shipping and everything the total was $61.05 US (basically $61.05 CDN right now). To get the same set in Canada would cost me $97.88 with shipping at the cheapest place I've been able to find. I guess if I was fortuneate enough to have a LSS I wouldn't pay quite that much b/c i wouldn't have to pay shipping but as it stands right now that's my only option. All I can say is you ladies are very lucky to live in a country where most of the popular scrapbooking/cardmaking companies reside.
I shop online, but I have all my stuff shipped to a friend in Vermont. (I live in Montreal, so not too far.)
We either meet for lunch and I pick the stuff up and just pay the GST and PST (there is no duty on craft supplies) or we spend a weekend at her house and we are then able to bring back $1200 worth of stuff tax and duty free.
You are allowed $400 per person if you are gone for 48 hours. My two year old son even gets the exemption.
Annoyingly, some online sites aren't set up to bill a Canadian credit card and then ship to the US.
I buy a lot of stuff from Joann's. They have great sales and I am a member of their free shipping club. They are great for basics. They don't really have the latest stuff, but you can still get some neat stuff there.
I have been noticing that with our strong dollar, papercrafting stuff is slowly coming down in price here in Canada, some things more than others.
We are off to Vermont for the weekend for a lovely visit with our friends, an Easter egg hunt and to pick up *cough* twenty-two packages. *Cough*.
Thanks ladies! I've been to busy looking at at the links you posted to thank you any earlier. How rude of me!
Any more suggestions anyone? Never enough online shopping to be done!
I have had fabulous service and selection from paperworksco.com and www.stampandscrapcanada.ca I would highly recommend either/both of these places. I find the prices of stampandscrapcanada to be excellent (and very quick shipping) and I have had outstanding service from Paperworks Co.
In the past, I've seen threads in the forum asking for the names of Canadian scrapbooking online stores, so I thought I'd mention two I've done business with recently, in case there are some Canadians here who have not heard of them yet. I've purchased from both of them twice now, and the service has been excellent!
Is there a list anywhere of Canadian online shops that carry stamps, punches & cuttlebug stuff? I know of SU and a couple others.....my LSS is always out of stock (and their prices are high) my Michael's also has bare shelves & pegs,so I guess I have to order online. Just thought there might be a list available *hoping*
Peggy carries lots of great stuff here:http://paperworksco.com/I see you're in AB, if you're in Edmonton, you may even be able to save on shipping. She's great to work with!
Oh my goodness...I get email updates from her, have checked out her store and had no idea she was just up the highway from me...Thank you
Leslie...it says I do not have access to that page but thanks anyways
Hi all! I just recently moved from Calgary to a small town in the interior of BC. We don't have a walmart, or a scrapbooking/stamping store here, or actually anything that carries any sort of supplies. I can drive for about an hour to get to some good stores, including a michael's, but I don't get to do that very often. I was wondering if anyone out there knew of CANADIAN online stores that had good prices and shipping rates? I don't like shopping from american stores due to customs and the exchange rate, so I am looking for stores based out of canada. I'm looking for a place to get nesties, cuttlebug stuff, cricut stuff, Glue-glider refills, and other stuff like that. I am into SU so ink and paper isn't an issue, it's the 'other' stuff that I don't have good access to.
Scrappin Great Deals is a really good Cdn online store. They have weekly deals and great service and shipping. If you go to the Stampin Canada forums, they have a listing of a lot of Canadian & "Canadian friendly" online stores also.
It's not Canadian, but their shipping is reasonable and they ship in record time...I love Whiff of Joy. But they don't really sell supplies, just stamps, so I guess you'd have to love their images to buy from them!
Stampingbella sells nesties and all types of supplies and awesome stamps ... shipping is free on orders over 55.00 and only 4.99 on orders under 55.00 Check them out
I love paperworksco.com in Edmonton. Peggy has fabulous customer service, and her prices are excellent. She can also do custom orders for you, too, if there was something in particular you wanted.
Hi, I've ordered from Scrappin'Great Deals as well, they have weekly 12 hour sales as well as offer free shipping from time to time. I believe that if your order is over $100.00, it is free shipping. Shipping was fast and packed beautifully so your paper gets to you just the way you want it!! Hope this helps!
Also a warning..... I used to shop a lot at a place called Lisa's Scrap Shack (out of BC I think). There was a change in owner a while back and I will NEVER order from there again. She never answers her emails (or phone for that matter) and it took close to three weeks to get my parcel with no response from her when I tried to find out the tracking number or the status of the order.
I even decided to give her one more try at the end of last month since she had received some of the new Cosmo Cricket stuff that I wanted at a good price. The order was placed on July 30th and as of today I still have not even received my Pay Pal invoice. Needless to say there is NO way I'm ever ordering from there again. If there was some kind of problem going on she could at least post it on her blog or website to let customers know what the heck is going on.
It's too bad bc that store used to be one of the most reasonable stores in Canada with awesome selection. Now, not so much. :(
There is also R & R scrapbooking out of Edmonton. They were closed for awhile but open again. I've ordered from them and have had now problems. http://www.scrapbooking.ca/ I've also ordered from scrapin great deals and paperworks company and have had success everytime. Thank you to those who also listed places. I'm checking them out as well.
