Default Sentiments sets

I'm really indecisive about sentiments. I like single sentiments on wood, but nowadays everyone is making sentiments in sets where inevitably, half the sentiments are not what I want. Hero Arts comes to mind this year. Almost all their sentiments are in clear sets or cling sets. Who buys sets?

I have quite a few single sentiments on wood that I got when I first started stamping. I still use them quite a bit. They are pretty generic, sympathy, happy birthday, thank you, etc.

I've been pleased with the clear sets I've bought from Paper Trey. They are very versatile, and clear stamps sure make it easy for proper placement. If you give the clear stamps a try, you might be surprised that you like them after all. Here is a link:

The Mega Mixed Messages is especially a good one, I think. Sentiments for any occasion.

I've tried to buy generic sentiment stamps, but usually, if I have the right sentiment, its not in a font that suits the style of the card, so basically I gave up buying sentiment stamps. I also don't like sets because usually there is some (or multiple) lame sentiment that I wouldn't dream of using. I use my computer now to generate most of my sentiments and always use the computer for the inside verse if I don't hand write something. With all the thousands of free fonts available, I could never have all the sentiment stamps that the versatility of the computer offers.

I have bought three sets from PTI for the sentiments. I loved their new Christmas one and the Thank you set. I recently sent my old Christmas to someone to use. Mostly I have bought little words stamps fro amuse. There She Goes sell great sets of little images and includes all the little word sentiments that I paid big $$ for on wood mounted.

I actually really like the sets of clear sentiment stamps, especially the ones with a variety of fonts/occasions. I find that even if I initially think I'll never use some of the sentiments in a set, there comes a time when one ends up being the perfect fit for a card that I'm making. And the fact that they're clear makes it super-easy to line up on my cardfront. In fact, I'm always on the lookout for more sentiment sets!

I *LOOOOVE* sentiment sets! Most of mine are from Verve. They even carry single scripture verses which is hard to find!

Totally agree with Cat_Woman.
If you have a computer the possibilities are endless for the compilation of sentiments because there are so many fonts available now, just takes a minute or two to do.

I computer generate many of mine. I agree, many of the sentiments in sets are not what I would use, to small, to big, bland. Many of the ones I do use is Our Daily Bread.

Who buys sentiment sets? Me. That said, I do choose my sets carefully, making sure that I will use if not all, at least most of the set. I've even split a sentiment set with someone when I wanted certain ones & they wanted others. We both got the ones we really wanted, but not the ones we just didn't need. Most of my sentiment sets are SU!, but I do have some PTI (LOVE the Christmas one I have. I've used it almost exclusively on my cards this year.) and a few from other companies.
My mother buys a lot of sentiment sets as well.

I actually really like SU!'s Teeny Tiny Wishes. I love to punch the sentiment with the Word Window punch, then layer it onto the Modern Label punch. It looks great, especially with small brads or crystals or the ends.

I'm also very fond of a lot of sentiment stamps from A Muse and Rosie's Roadshow.

Default computers

The problem I have with computers is that the number of techniques one can do is limited. You can't emboss for example. They are ok with copics, but putting neenah through an inkjet is rarely clean. Further, putting a sheet through an inkjet pretty much uses up the paper. After a few of them, its cheaper just to buy the stamp. The most important thing is that typsetting a title takes longer than just stamping it.

I need better sentiment vendors. Hero Arts has been awful this year.

I love CTMH Acrylix stamp sets! They have a great variety of sentiment sets available and if bible verses are desired they carry some of those as well. I really love the versatility of the clear stamps for placement, coloring, ease of use and the image stamped is great.
